i guess that makes sense...need a house to keep the bulk ammo orders
I shot the pistol calibers of the Fiocchi before. I thought it was nice stuff. That's a good price also.

I've been seeing ammo prices on 5.56/.223 coming back down again for a few weeks. It's been getting cheaper than .40 and .45 ammo. I would look around for a better price honestly.
Here's some military surplus M193 for a little less (new manufacture):

That's not much less for surplus. I would pay extra to not shoot surplus out of my AR.
Dan... youve been holding out on us?

what's up with the top of the cases of the surplus rounds? why is it "oxidated" like that?
Yes, I went into the ammo business. I have hit every Walmart and gun show from here to Atlanta and bought it all up.
Actually I am getting low on .45acp again. I think I may have to make a trip back down to Miami to restock. Huge fan of the Stone Hart stuff. I may pick up some .223 so if I ever finish this AR, I can fire it.
Stone Hart's prices went up a lot last time I heard.
On Stone Hart's website (stonehart.net) they have .45acp listed for $19.00/box of 50. That is pretty fair for new ammo that is as nice as their stuff.

for 9mm it's only $26 for 100rds
I haven't been to the range for a while, so I still have at least 700 each 9mm .223... but I would not hesitate to buy from stoneheart again..

Yh but the Fiochi is still $40 cheaper per 1,000 rds and is not reloads like the .223 from Stone Hart.
Quick question - what is up with the band on the upper part of the case on the surplus. Looks like it is almost oxidated or something. Is it something to do with the press that was used or when it was crimped?

thats .04 per round, does that include shipping and tax????
and SH uses new bullets and new cases so its not like a true reload..

Stone Hart's reloads on their website are named quite odd "remanufactured bullets". Are they recasting spent bullets?
And most times, shipping is cheaper than tax when you're talking about ordering 1000 rounds.
Stone Hart needs to stop gouging. He got a couple contracts with local ranges. He sells to them at the old prices and now lists higher prices for everyone else so that the ranges can sell it at the high price for a profit. It's artificial inflation.

from his website he is still using reloads for the .223 unlike the other rounds

It's too expensive to get new brass for 223, so he's ordering used military and range brass from Top Brass and LEO Brass (respectively).
But until Stone Hart stops pulling the range ammo contract scam on his customers he can suck a nut.
(Range ammo contract scam = Maker establishes supply contract to local ranges, in return he promises to charge his personal customers a huge margin that matches the ridiculous prices charged by the range owners. The range owners still pay the old price that Stone Hart's customers used to enjoy. So Stone Hart sells his sole for some range orders and now has contracts he'd risk voiding if he ever did a group buy for us and charged us less than the contract minimum. But nobody buys enough overpriced ammo at the range now to keep enough order volume going after the initial stock-up. This is how most of the ammo market has become fucked on pricing because of the contract pricing from distributor to wholesaler to retailers. Walmart would be astronomical also if prices really were that high, since they have less common caliber ammo than the online ammo dealers do now.)
On a lighter note, my Walmart got another big delivery today. They received 3 cases of 9mm WWB and 3 cases of 40SW in WWB TwinPacks (the boxes with 2 trays instead of loose ammo). Sadly no 45ACP today. They told me the switch from Blazer Brass to Federal Champion will likely be permanent and they aren't expecting anymore CCI ammo to come in anymore. From now on they said it should all be Federal, Winchester, and Remington.
Once I'm up to 3000-4000 rounds of 45ACP I'll focus on stocking up on 5.56/.223. Right now demand for 223 seems to have already leveled off, so prices should get even better by the time I'm done with 45ACP and ready to buy 223. Just my assumption there of course. =)
And I believe I've decided I'm going to try and stick to just 22LR, 223, and 45ACP as my only 3 calibers to worry about. I'll stock up about 20k rounds of 22LR in the Federal Bulk Packs once they become available again. I think I'm going to make that my training caliber for obvious financial reasons.
For .22lr I am really digging the Remington Golden bullets. You get 525 to a box for $19.99. Funny part is they are the only ammo that work consistently well in my 22 pistol. I have tried CCI, Winchester, and few others and the Golden bullets seem to do the job. I went into Bass Pro last week and they got a shipment of the GB in. I bought 3 boxes.

Guys, i was at his shop not too long ago, spent an hour watchign them make my 9mm and the rest of the .556 i was picking up. it was all NEW Brass and NEW bullets right from the sealed cases, I will qoute Adolfo " it is too expensive for him to spend time resizing and the other preps for reloads" so all he does now is New manf. Ammo.I wouldnt hesitate to buy from him again ..

Too expensive for him to make reloads? WTF bullshit is that? Why are reloads cheaper and his prices were lower when all he did was reloads if this were true?
The only components that have increased in price over the past year are primers (prices have doubled). That ads about 2-3 cents per round. His prices were 20 cents per round for 45, now they're 35-40 cents per round.
He's just gouging while he can. Watch his prices drop once the end of the rush is over. Buying is already dying out because people are running out of money to throw at guns & ammo.

little confused then...why on his website is he claiming that his .223 loads are remanufactured? Despite that though if you buy what he has your gonna spend $410 plus tax. Dan's ammo online you can get the Fiochi for $370 per 1,000 plus just the shipping. Still gonna save money....plus for me you'd have to factor in gas money to drive my ass down there. Just wonder how clean Fiochi burns

try em and let us know.. I would get some if they are good quality and clean

Whats wrong with surplus?
Surplus means its been sitting around for a while. For a few dollars more its worth getting fresh ammo. Especially when it's literally a few dollars more.

Surplus isn't all that bad! Depending on the brand of surplus you may have to clean your AR a little bit more but nothing else really significant. My AR works well with surplus or fresh ammo no difference. I'm not one to be picky honestly cuz in my mind it all kills the same.

Well a few dollars more per how many rounds? If it's a few dollars more per 500, sure, get new. But if it's a few dollars more per 50 I'll skip new and get XM193. I just wouldn't get XM855 because when most of it is de-milled they put an SS109 bullet on there which are junk and lack the penetrator core.
But you know me, I'll shoot Wolf if it's the cheapest option. I've read enough research on it to find that the latest polymer coated bi-metal cases on Wolf ammo is just as safe, or safer, on a weapon than brass ammo. Yes, just as gentle on the extractor and bolt face too. And it doesn't run any dirtier than Winchester, Blazer, or Remington.
PMC shoots the dirtiest and has the worst grouping from every weapon review I've seen it used in. Anytime PMC is one of the brands put through an AR during eval it always performs the worst (2.5"+ groupings @ 100 yards from a rest).
