I was at markham park today in the morning and i could not should my rifle, a lot of storms and lightning danger....so i came back home and i started to look at my rifle one more time, because the last time i went to the range i cleaned it, but kind of fast...
i saw on the barrel that are traces of cooper, so i cleaned again.....but with not much succes...i cleaned with hoppes 9, and nitro cleaner .....
the think is to me the cooper inside looks more than on my Glock 19, witch i shot a lot more...
the rifle is a remington 700 series, that has only 60 rounds through it....
i read about sweet 7,62 solvent, that is stronger....do you guys think that is good to use that from time to time (because i understand that is very strong)....or maybe i am just exaggerating...
Sweets is really good stuff. You can't overuse it, as it will only attack fouling and not the steel in the barrel.

i just went to the range on pembroke and at bass pro, i could not find it, maybe guntech has it...i just found shooter's choice cooper remover...i'm going to try this , and if this does not work as i want to i am going to buy the sweets...
thanks for the reply!!!
I found some at Bass Pro a while back ago. Don't have any at Guntech and I generally don't see it on the shelves of a lot of gun stores. Just make sure you follow the directions, as it is not a solvent that you can get away with leaving in the barrel like Hoppes 9. CLP and S&W bore cleaner are much less agressive but if you scrub enough, you get the same results.
ETA: I just searched on line and I found it on Midway. I buy a ton of stuff from Midway so they are good to go.

I clean everything I own with Break Free CLP. I also oil with CLP. I am going to start cleaning my Mosin Nagants with Hopps 9 after use while at the range, just a swab one time at the range before I get home and really tear it apart. I use corrosive ammo in those and I heard a quick heavy swab of Hopps 9 at the range before you do a thorough cleaning at home will help prevent any corrosion. I also clean every firearm every time I fire it. One range trip, it gets cleaned no matter how much ammo I out through it.

Satan uses ABF Technology's Weapon Shield for cleaning and lubricating.
http://www.steelshieldtech.com/mainpage/retail-product-weapon-shield.html
http://www.steelshieldtech.com/prodsheetpdf/pdfcombined/WeaponShield.pdf
Steel Shield Technologies' mechanism of
operation is based upon advanced methods of
Tribology that improve lubricity and load carrying capacity.
This, in turn, improves surface characteristics while
simultaneously creating a stable chemical Advanced
Boundary Film on the contacting metal surfaces of whatever
equipment in which it is added. The process of Advanced
Boundary Film formation is achieved through a unique
combination of long-chain halogenated hydrocarbons and
other proprietary additives that are highly stable and noncorrosive
to the equipment's metal parts, and pose no threat
to the environment or waste oil recovery systems. Steel
Shield reacts chemically, under thermal conditions with the
contacting metal surfaces, to form a complex surfaceattaching
film of protection. Steel Shield's characteristics
are "electro-negative", which causes it to seek out and affix
itself to the metallic surface areas. During this process,
surface smoothing is accomplished, resulting in improved
spread characteristics of the surfaces themselves. The final
state of the opposing metal surfaces increases the fluid film
strength even more, resulting in greatly reduced wear while
imparting extreme pressure (EP) properties to the opposing
metal surfaces. The result is a virtual elimination of
frictional wear and significant cooling of the entire lubricated
area yielding higher energy savings and reduced metallic
debris and acids in the oil. This is extensively proven through
elemental oil analysis and Ferrography of the used oil,
before and after the use of Steel Shield's Advanced Boundary
Film Technology.

So that's the new stuff you were talking about huh? You're going to have to let me try it next time we're at the range.

Sure, but like you told me, it needs time to film up. So you'll be shooting wet.

I was talking about a quick clean after we shoot.

Try this stuff and you'll give away your Sweets. This stuff is that good. It is totally odorless and won't harm a barrel. It even has rust preventatives in it. Bill T.

thanks, i'm going to try the bore tech if it has no odor, because my wife hate it when i start cleaning my guns ..... :-)

Bore Tech Eliminator has zero odor. It also contains no Ammonia, and will not harm anything on your firearm, or it's finish. I have no vested interest in Bore Tech. I just use and like their products. And believe me when I say I've tried every Copper remover known to man. My wife has a sensitive nose as well ! Bill T.

billt....... I remember your nick from FSN a while back ago. You and I got the ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight about the same time. You did a nice test write up on aluminum parts IIRC. Welcome to Tactical Advantage.

This is the Ultrasonic Cleaner I purchased from Harbor Freight, and did the write up about a while back. It is still running, and giving good service. It works great for cleaning gun parts, like crusty bolt carrier groups from AR-15's, and the like. I also use it to clean small batches of dirty brass. It cleans the inside of the case and primer pocket if you deprime first, as well as the outside. I use hot tap water, or else heat it in a kettle until I can barely stick my finger in it, then add a little dish washing detergent. The unit has a built in heater, but it isn't powerful enough to heat the water, but will maintain the temperature of hot water.
The only thing is don't clean any Aluminum parts in it because it can effect the surface finish by a process called cavitation. They are tiny microscopic bubbles that actually can eat the finish away of soft metal like Aluminum that is not very dense. This won't happen with steel, or other heavier metals. These things are like Microwave Ovens. Once you have one you'll wonder how the hell you ever lived without it. Bill T.

One thing I forgot to mention is if you decide to get one, sign up on Harbor Freight's E-Mail list. They E-Mail printable 20% off coupons almost weekly. Bill T.
