They will be there at the Suncoast Gun Show. And they told me they will have their lowers on-hand for 100-105$ out the door. Yes, they will be accepting credit cards right from their booth also.

So there you guys go... I handed it to you on a platter. Great deal on the lowers and they're coming your way. If you want multiple lowers make sure to get there early as I think they'll only have 50-60 with them for the trip (they'll move fast at that price).

Get there very early for a few other deals they might have (if they don't run out of stock here in Tampa this weekend). I won't say the deals right now because I don't want anyone disappointed if they show up and they aren't there. Go for the lowers, be surprised at the other part deals. =)

Sure. I am going to the show in WPB tomorrow if you are interested in making the trek there. It is, in my humble opinion, a much better show then the one in Ft Lauderdale. I will go to the one in Ft Lauderdale next weekend anyway. Let me know what day you want to go.

Have fun guys... and happy b-days!

Btw, Georgia Arms is at the Tampa show, selling all their wares that their website says is on backorder. Maybe GA will make it down to the Ft Lauderdale show. They're selling new manufacturer ammo using Starline brass, CCI primers, and CCI Speer bullets. I grabbed a 50 pack of their new 185gr +P Gold Dot to try out.

Bring cash. The last time I bought from Spikes, they were telling the guy next to me that they had to charge an extra 3% for credit cards. Also, when going to the gunshow there, park behind the auditorium by the tennis courts and avoid the parking fee. This is the only event there that charges a parking fee. Not much but that and the entry fee adds up for an already low probablity of finding a good deal there. WPB is much better as well as the show at the Tamiami fair grounds.

It really is terrible. Full of thugs and dirt balls. Also full of pushy A-holes. I will go just to people watch, havent seen a deal there. Now the show in WPB, which is not a Suncoast show, is great. Its big, open, and the people are great.

Well here's a couple other reasons to go. Ask for Scott (he's the guy from Spike's that does the shows with Ross) and haggle a bit. They'll already have a few items for decent prices, but you can get him to come off more if you're buying a few items.

The Lowers will be 100$ OTD, MagPul MBUS 40$ each piece (really good price for the rear - the black will sell out very quickly), Spike's M16 BCG (actually the same stock as Daniel Defense) for 125$ (if you're also getting a lower offer Scott 120$), KNS pins for 25$, Ambi-selectors for 25$ (try for 20$), upper receivers for 110$ (try for 100$), MagPul PMag's 15$ (offer him 50$ for 4), and charging handles for 25$ (definitely say 20$). He'll also have some YHM quad rails to negotiate on (I didn't try because he didn't have the Diamond Rail in rifle length). All haggling listed above is cash, yes they will charge the 3% for credit card, but atleast these prices include the tax. And if you're spending more than 300$, before you cash out, last thing to ask is if he'll throw in a shirt to seal the deal.

AJ is a lot nicer to work with at their shop because he gives me shit free as I add more to my order, don't have to ask him for shit. He was actually at the Tampa show and made sure the others took care of me. I'll continue to goto him at the shop for prices on certain items that Scott won't match (like LPK's with Ergo Grip for 65$ OTD, MOE Stock for 50$ OTD, CTR Stock for 70$ OTD, etc), but I'll also goto the next show to get some things from him that they just can't honor it at the shop (Scott is not a very organized bookkeeper - wouldn't be surprised if he breaks even on a number of transactions just to move product, I think they call that marketing though lol).

Anyhow, obviously don't haggle items you aren't actually interested in buying even at normal price, but Scott will come off the price if you're looking to keep adding to the order.

I may actually be going to the Lakeland show Aug 29-30th to get my last couple lowers and ask AJ to put some other stuff in the van for me to buy at the show. I'll end up having 6 lowers and all the parts for the first 2 builds except for the barrels and rails by the end of the month. Damn BRD!!!!

And yes, Suncoast sucks!!! I prefer the Cliffhanger and Southern Classic shows.

I like them. I won't say they have the best price on everything, but what I get from them is among the best prices out there and I'm filling in the gaps with YHM parts from another shop in Florida plus a custom barrel shop will likely be making all my barrels if barrels don't become available soon.

Future builds will be built over time while I wait for the Florida companies to have the parts I want on sale/special whenever that may be. =)

A lot of people are pissed at Spikes for being more than quick to raise the prices of AR parts astronomically after November last year. Personally, I support capitalism and everyone has their own personal moral standards and right to run their business as they see fit. Rich at Guntech didn't raise their "margin" over their cost during the madness. In fact, as a percentage, it probably dropped as the cost continued to climb. I tip my hat to them, but at the same time, it probably was the smart thing to do in the long run with the majority of their client base being LE.

Don't expect Scott or Ross to haggle on the MOE or CTR stocks. And he only had the standard LPK's at the Tampa show for 60$. The Stocks and LPK I mentioned are deals from going to the shop. Like I said, depends which route for which you get the best deal on.

Yes, many people got pissed (some still pissed) with Spike's about their 50$ price jump in November. A few other parts went up as well, but I look at it this way - their price increases allowed them to keep things in-stock and never played the "indefinite backorder" game with their customers. This is also why they don't advertise every part they stock on their website, so they have all the components in the shop to fill orders with.

Btw, Spike's had a very wide margin on their products which got them into so many dealers. Having that margin shrink was nothing for the dealers to really bitch about when they started selling old stock at the new MSRP and bitching to their customers about it while not telling them they were making 100$ profit per part. Some dealers have some serious shady-bones to be playing that game with people.

Now you have prices coming down and Spike's is leading the low-priced quality part surge. They can't be all that bad, they just adapt to market conditions and costs faster in my book.

I really don't want to split hairs as I do like their stuff, but IIRC, he had two prices, one at the low price that put you in all intents and purposes a "backorder list" while the full retail price allowed you a shiney new lower. Obviously supply has finally caught up and I'm hoping ammo will soon follow and he has been the first to offer close to the original deal which I jumped on over a year ago - 2 lowers for $190 out the door.

I think you will be waiting a while for the components.

Luckily Tactical Machining just signed a deal for Lothar Walther barrels to be delivered every month. Now I just have to wait for them to email me back with the availability date and expected prices. Barrels seem to be the hardest to get right now.

All else fails my barrels will be made by the same shop that makes them for Spike's (eliminate Spike's markup) and pay 250$ per barrel instead of 300-350$.

But I would rather pay 175$ for YHM barrels if anyone could keep them in-stock. I can get the Daniel Defense CHF CL barrel for 230$ though if things remain difficult to find.

Here's my list of readily available parts I like with prices, let me know which you think I should be doing better on:

Lower - 100$
Upper - 90$
BCG - 120$
Diamond 12" Rail - 130$
Phantom FH - 20$
LoPro GB - 20$
Gas Tube - 10$
MBUS - 80$
CTR - 70$
Tungsten Buffer w/ Tube - 50$
LPK w/ Ergo - 65$
PMag - 13$

Total without barrel - 648$ using only Spike's, YHM, and MagPul. Plus it's all purchased here in Florida from just 2 companies.

Slap a YHM barrel on for 200$ (or DD CHF barrel for 230$) and the value is definitely there over buying a basic DPMS, Bushy, or RRA for 800-900$. I'd rather build it myself - especially since Spike's honors lifetime warranty on their components and not just their complete rifles. I'm actually 20$ under that price so far because I went with the MOE stock for the first build.

This is just my opinion though. Others will find deals they like better elsewhere or just prefer your regular kit builds from Model1 or Del-Ton. I may also go that route for 1 or 2 of my lowers and have a complete rifle for 600$, we'll see.

My future SBR build will likely be my most expensive (around 2600$ including 2 tax stamps - SBR & Suppressor). Second most expensive will be the SPR build which will take some time because I'll be studying a lot of different optics to see what I like best.

That reminds me. I need to start looking into all the parallax-free red-dots out there to see which gives me the best eye relief and target tracking. C3PO, are there any uncommon contenders I should be considering?

I'm off the 16th.

Figures, you're off for the Ft Lauderdale show but not the Tampa or Lakeland shows? Driving 4 hours does not make anything we'd buy a deal. =(

Get the last weekend of the month off and we'll goto the Lakeland show. Or you'll have to wait until last half of September for the next Tampa show.

I agree, and I believe this also has to do with their really being 4 different "versions" of Spike's with a different person in charge of each one:
Tom - Website
Scott - Gunshows
Ross - LEO/Dealers
AJ - Inhouse/Walk-in

Each of them offering different prices on each part even gets under my skin. Sadly there are ways the game is played and they pretty much play every variation as best they can.

And I am also hoping that ammo is catching up as well. I've found a great place to order standard range ammo (Blazer Brass & American Eagle) at their pre-election prices... but of course it is a backorder. Though it is guaranteed price lock just like Midway. I'm even finding defense ammo.

What sucks is that Walmart by me showed me their notice that 45ACP will be 10-12 weeks before the next deliveries due to other commitments that Winchester (who provides all of Walmart's ammo, regardless of brand) has to fulfill.

Aside from that I'd really love to see (X)M193 or (X)M855 go back to the prices of 2007 before any of the fear over "microID" or Obama winning really set in. I'd love to get cases of that stuff for 250$ shipped.

Right now anything that is still a pain to get (barrels, ammo, etc) I will just hold out and work on getting parts for future builds that has already come down. I figure I can get alot of stuff done while waiting for barrels and then get barrels & tax stamps while I'm waiting for ammo to become plentiful again.

It's too bad they picked a garbage venue to sell their products.

And I really don't get how Suncoast is so popular either. They charge for parking, have the highest door prices, and they charge the vendors 100$/table - while other shows like Southern Class & Cliffhangers charge 70-80$/table.

Everyone loses except for Suncoast and yet all the biggest vendors goto the Suncoast shows from what I've seen. I'm glad Shooters in Jacksonville doesn't goto the overpriced shows - or else they wouldn't have the nicest show prices I've seen on handguns or ammo. Only problem is having to drive to Jacksonville. =/
