Does anyone have any experience with one of these pocket pistols? I've been toying with the idea of pickin one up as a backup conceal weapon.

hmmmm :think:

My internets decoder ring has got nothing......

plop v. , plopped , plopping , plops . v.intr. To fall with a sound like that of an object falling into water without splashing.

So it wouldn't be a throw down gun, but it could be a throw in the canal type gun. Or the kind of gun you'd "plop" down on the couch with.

Or it could be a typo and you meant to say "poop" :poo:. I've worked on a couple of them in the shop and mechanically, they are ok, but the fit and finish is much to be desired.

The price on those things aren't bad. I've recently looked at one. It's a bit on the weird side as far as feel and ergonomics is concerned though.

plop=crap hitting the bowl.
I have had a few students in the past purchase and train on these guns. I am not a fan.
The trigger is just plain wrong with an excessively long and spongy feel.

Though the design is sound, the quality of the assemblies is poor and the overall feel clunky.
I have found the repeatability to be subpar and not very accurate with a tendency to FTF and FTE.
The breakdown on the gun is relatively easy but if unexperiance be careful
Lastly IMHO a revolver from S&W or Taurus or charter arms if budget is a concern is leaps and bounds a better concealment/PD type handgun.

Basically what I promised myself a long time ago and what customers who have dealt with me in the past are aware of is I would never recommend a gun that I wouldnt put in the hands of my wife and trust it to save her life. This particular piece is not on that list

Great answer Chris. I usually don't want to be branded an elitist, but you are right, I wouldn't in good conscience recommend a turd to a friend. The two Bersas that came in the shop had issues due to the quality of the gun. One had to have the extractor repaired due to firing steel cased ammo and the other was an interesting problem of light primer strikes where the gun had an ajustable sight and the adjustment screw must have worked loose on the owner and the spring was lost. Without the spring, the owner had to crank down on the screw to keep the sight from shaking. Without the spring, the screw was traveling too far down and was actually impeding the firing pin from a free forward progression. Bad enginering to tap the screw hole into the firing pin channel and bad design to not have positive detents on the adjustment screw. So no, I would not recommend the gun to anyone.
