Anyone ever thought about throwing a get together sponsored by Tactical Advantage?
Something like a community event. It promotes the site and also brings more of us gun folk together. Something resembling a BBQ set up with food and drink where people bring there kids etc.
Just a thought!

Either that or a shoot at Sharon's!
Right now I have more important things to take care of. If you want to orchestrate something between the gang go ahead and set it up. I will be more than happy to attend.

You smart man! Kind of what I was thinking. So I'll be the grill dude then.....
I know we have a few other grill master's so you guys can marinate or rub what you want and I'll get it grilled up. I asked Spike40 to assist in getting the names of attendees and what they're brining so we get a full count. I'm going to cal Markham today if I get a free moment and ask if we need reservations etc and take it from there.

I guess I skimmed through this thread too fast. I thought the event would be at Markham. If it's at Pop's, count me out.
If it's at Pop's, count me out.
why?
Sharon has made life difficult for instructors to train there and make a profit. I think there's more to the story, but for the most part I doubt there will be any advanced courses happening there.....
Gentle Ben
10-15-2009, 11:32 AM
why?
I've been there enough times, and seen enough of Sharon's unprofessional behavior and psychotic tirades (was on the receiving end of one as well) to know that it's not a place I want to patronize or recommend to my friends/customers.
I always got along with Sharon, and thought that the people who had problems with her had treated her with disrespect somehow, and brought it on themselves...until one day, completely unprovoked, she flipped out on me and accused me of lying to her, trying to cheat her, etc etc etc. :suicide1:
I now drive to Lakeland and train at Southern Exposure, a well-maintained, versatile range, where my business is appreciated, and I don't have to worry about the owners flipping out randomly.

as much as I have enjoyed Pops the times i have been there, i try and avoid her too.. i offered her a chance at me bring upwards of 30 people (potential members) to come shoot, she gave me every excuse in the book as why i coldnt , this was 20 bucks a head she turned down , then she insulted my friends and coworkers(firefighters) saying we werent pros' and we were untained.. the best part of it was that more then a few are SWAT medics and or Mil.Vets which she spouted out some more grandious BS about her type of training blah blah blah .. At this point i would rather go to Markham and know the RM's are sane ...

I have had my own run in with sharon as well
Yeah, I haven't had a personal run in with Sharon and I have always thought I could stay on her good side with just being nice, but honestly, I've dealt with many people friends included where their personalities required a lot of tip toeing and the end result always ends poorly. I'll still go to the range, but I don't expect a long term stable environment.

Over the years I have watched many people crash and burn with Sharon, myself included.
She is a certified mental case, and not worth dealing with on any level. It's like those religious folks that play with poisonous snakes, it's not a matter of if you get bit, but when.
One of my very good friends down here (Ben knows him, as to some of you others from FSN) was one of her longest supporters and finally wound up sending her an email telling her point blank that she was a lunatic nutbag and needed medicating. And this guy is very slow to anger.
I'd love to meet some of you guys, but I won't go out to Pop's either.
Looks like Markham will be the place.

I wonder if Sal would be down to trailer out his bbq and work some of his magic... You weren't at the 4-day Randy Cain handgun/carbine marathon (it was at Pop's), but on the last day ol' Sal brought out that massive grill of his and slow-cooked a bunch of pork shoulders and butts all day. it was torture whenever the wind would shift and we'd get a whiff of hardwood smoke and pork. That was a feast.

Phil said it right, i never had an issue while there, but the eggshell walking is not fun too .. my issues were trying to actually help her and her being a wackjob
I am down with Markham. Let me know when and I will gladly come out and play plus bring some beer. :)
Gentle Ben
10-15-2009, 04:00 PM
A lot of people tried to help her, myself included. She could have a nice little range there, and completely corner the SE FL market, but she's her own worst enemy.
If you guys haven't trained at Southern Exposure, I highly recommend it. The place is manicured like a golf course, and although it's nothing fancy, it has a 300 yd rifle range, a 360 degree berm, and a couple of shooting lanes that are divided with brick walls. There's a local hotel where Irv (the owner) negotiated a special rate for students, and there's a lot of camaraderie amongst the group: every day after training we go out for dinner as a class and rehash the day, BS, and relax.
And the range fee for students is $10/day, regardless of class size. You don't have to worry about showing up and finding out that it went up to $40/day because some people canceled (which is the kind of crap Sharon pulled several times)

Nothing wrong with a Tactical Beer Gut, just ask SecPro!
And it sounds like Sharon should've already been declared mentally defective and had her licenses taken away. If this is going to be a nice big party, try to make it for a Saturday. With enough notice I can get the woman off work so she can come shoot. She still doesn't know this 16" marksman build is hers, it would be a nice time to tell her. Once she has it I'm sure she won't mind me going crazy on an SBR build for myself. =)

I use one of these (http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xr5/R-100606040/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053). $70 bucks and it's lasted me at least two years. As soon as I verify that the old one is busted and it's not an electrical problem with the house, into the canal the old one goes and I'll just buy a new one. Disposable, "set it and forget it", and GREAT results.
Sal likes to putter around and screw with the thing, it's part of his fun. I just want to put meat in and get BBQ out when it's done.
Thinking I may go with gas this time if I can figure out how long a tank will last, or get the underground tank plumbed over to the patio. Been eyeballin' this model (http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xr5/R-100661410/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053).
I like that smoker... my put it on the X mas list
