How does one go about acquiring these two licenses in the state of Florida? What would be the requirements, price and availability of classes?
:tiphat:
Does anyone offer these classes through this forum?
Check with Secpro. I believe he has both.

There are a few different options sir!
I will post the fees for the State and you can PM about alternatives.
D Security Officer: You're looking at $87 for fingerprints and the license. Last I checked I got an Academy that does the actually course(joke) for $60.
Total= $147
G Armed Security Officer: $154 total for prints and license fee. You will need a company to sponsor you to attain your G license. Without a sponsor you will not be able to get it. Which is why so few people have it!
The actually class now is $250. All the class teaches you is the proper use of force stuff and whatever the boring ass instructor wishes to throw in there.
Total= $404
You're looking at roughly $550-$600 in damages to work for some bumb ass company paying a max of say $12 to do armed uniform work.
Or you could be like me and do a shit load of deatail work for little or benefits, but okay pay!:)
This is just the brief breakdown! If you need some indepth stuff PM me and I'll see what I can get to you.
Oh, one question! Are you switching careers or something? Not quite the best field I'd tell someone to switch to if so.

Thank you for your info and advice........... Switching careers, I wouldn't say switching. But, I do like to be versatile. My current "career" is in the shitter right now. Only because of the market, economy, recession, blah blah blah. Just looking around on craigslist and I do see a bunch of job listings for armed security and that type stuff. I have a CCW, D would be a breeze from what I'm gathering and I do have someone who could/would sponsor me for the G. Whats the time frame on something like this from start to finish. Weeks or months? And as you were saying, risking your life for $12 an hour. Thats about what I've heard is the going rate to deliver/pickup money, armored truck delivery and the such. I think it would be more beneficial to do private detail work.

Turn around isn't bad!
With the D if you go into the state office to turn in your paperwork you'll a get a blue temp card the same day.
With the G whenyou get there you'll do fingerprints and some other crap and they'll review your paperwork then 2-3 days later you'll have to go back and pick up a temp card when they call you in.
From there it takes an undisclosed amount of time for your background to clear from them.
I've been waiting now nearly 3-4 months or so to have my stuff cleared. You can work under your temp card until your license comes in.
