Does it count if I don't get it until the old man kicks it?

Nice collection or should I say obsession with the Moss models..
Now you need to get your hands on a sniper's model (bent bolt nob) and even though you have that Sako, it would be nice to get a Finn capture.

The only thing that qualifies C&R that I got is me.... :(

Dan

My C&R collection is at a stand still for now. Need to hold off on purchases for now but eventually I would like a Romanian TTC (7.62x25), a K98 Mauser, a Springfield 1903A, an M1 Garand, and of course more Mosins including a Finnish capture 1891, Finn M28, and a Soviet 91/59.

Hey guys, I like ARs too. I just dont have one yet, well I have half an AR. When more $$$ comes so will more toys.

I wanted to obtain a collection of all the bolt action sticks from major countries:

The Arisaka T-99 for Japan
The K-98 Mauser for Germany (got it)
The Mossin 91/30 for USSR (got it)
The Fusil MAS 1936 for French :jerkit:
The Carcano for Italy
The Enfield MK1 for the Brits

and last but not least
The 1903 Springfield for :flag:

but I also needed to re-enforced my modern collection as well so as soon as I feel that I'ved reach a confortable number of modern toys , then I guess I'll re-start on my quest again...

Maybe on one of these future events for all to attend, I could take these sticks for everyone to try.

I will lay the disclaimer though that I'm not responsible for temporary/permanent damage cause to anyone's shoulder caused by these puppies.

I'm going to put in for a C&R just for the dealer discount with Brownell's, Midway, and Natchez. =)

If you get your C&R, you'll also be able to get a great M1 Garand from CMP.

Asian Joe and Dan would kill me if I didn't immediately order a Mosin as soon as I got my license. I think I started that disease here after posting the 80-90$ Mosin deals.

Dont you have to be a CMP member? And to get CMP membership dont you have to actually compete? I saw the deal with CMP but I was under the impression you had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get in.

to get purchasing power from the civilian markmanship program all you have to do is be a member of a club.
Join USPSA or IDPA and go nuts. Its like 50 bucks a year and no ATF
http://www.odcmp.com/faqs.htm

join one of these you join the CMP by-proxy

Garand Collectors Association GCA
N Kansas City
MO
www.thegca.org

The Carbine Club
Medway
MA
www.carbineclub.com

USPSA
Sedro Woolley
WA

Theres many others but its really not worth weeding through, all affiliates can be found on the CMP linky above

jus for the record, if you go with the garand collectors association you get a really really good magazine with your membership. No lie, probably one of the best collector rags out there

JaxChris

Hmm, I had never heard of the CMP before this. What are the typical prices on the surplus rifles they are disposing of?

Chris
10-07-2009, 12:03 AM
Very attractive pricing....very
They have ammo sales that would blow your mind but thats really the key. catching it when its on sale.

Unfortunately alot of the beauties (guns) have been found and distributed but there are some great deals out there.

If you find some older shooters out there they relish in telling you about the old days when CMP would just send a Garand to your door through the US mail.
Those must have been the days

well right now.
M-1 Carbines from about 450 to 595
Garands from about the same

Looks like all ammo is sold out

I just looked at their auctions and the ones ending soonest are 1200$. I wouldn't spend that much on any Relic, personally.

Speaking of the old stuff... anyone know where to find military vehicles? I saw Spike's (owner of Spike's Tactical) DPV and wouldn't mind finding one. They were sold off by the Army in '98/'99 for 400-2000$ and only need some legally placed head & tail lights to become street legal.

That would be my poor man's Atom/T-rex until I could afford one... some day. =)

Funny you mention military vehicles. I was looking at tanks and armored personnel carriers yesterday. How cool would it be to own a tank? Anyway, check out http://www.armyjeeps.net/ . They have a nice selection of military vehicles including tanks.

Imagine the look on a home invaders face when he is trying to jimmy the lock on your back door and you roll around the corner in a M5-A1 Stuart tank. He would instantly shit his pants no matter how tough he thought he was.
