Well,
Yesterday I installed a scope for a friend on a big bore hunting rifle.
The install went ok and he test fired the gun today.

This blurb is more about the rings and a defect and how leupold dealt with the issue so bear with me.

The particular rings were Leupold QRW medium rings. Sku # 49856

Moving forward, The gentlemen shot the gun today and after an initial 10 shot sight in noticed the retaining screw the keeper and the quick release handle were gone. It was obvious the keeper screw had sheared and completely fallen off. Thus rendering the ring completely useless and unfit for use.

He returned the rifle to me and we began to investigate the problem. Looks most likely to have been caused by a defect in the keeper screw which caused a shear under recoil causing a failure of the ring.
This really isnt a big deal and most likely repairable with a few dollars in parts.
I called and spoke to a Leupold technical service department rep. (Charlie) and was given a great amount of courtesy. They were willing to send me the parts to repair the ring but after finding it would be several part numbers the rep prompted me to send in the ring and they would replace it. I was told this would be around a 7 day turn around. Ive known for quite some time the customer service of this particular company was held in high regard but this is the first time Ive dealt with them personally.
What I can honestly say, after having the rep not only treat me with respect and honesty but also try very hard to make sure I was satisfied with the reconciliation of the problem that I will do business with them again and recommend them to others.
Ive been around long enough to know that parts can have defects as well as break no matter who is the manufacturer and how high the QA/QC is. Its really a measure of a quality company to see how they deal with issues that they could easily sidestep or try to pawn off on the end user.
So long story short, In less than 5 minutes on the phone I have a new ring being shipped (expedited) and they came away with a very satisfied customer.

Ive been a fan of some other companies rings for quite some time but I think the next pair I buy will be Leupold's just to show some loyalty for a company who really does deserve their reputation as a customer driven outfit.

Are those some of the rings made by ARMS for Leupold?

I had great customer service from Trijicon as well. When I bought my ACOG TA-11F, it was a display model that was never mounted but did sit for a couple of years. The online retailer noticed the seals on the windage turret was dry rotted as they were packing to send to me so they sent it first to Trijicon who then replace all the seals and the tritium gas tube which in effect made it a brand new spanking optic when they shipped it to me for about $300 less. They also replaced the two gas tubes in the set of trijicons I bought for the Beretta PX-4 with no questions asked when I had installed the sights and noticed two were not lit. Very good service.
