Awesome little gun

buy stock in band-aidsWhy? Does that gun pinch your finger or something haha

Chris
10-10-2009, 08:28 PM
no, not pinch it, but the recoil is bad enough it will open your hand up like a can of sardines. This is no exaggeration.
On a positive though. if it opens up the shooter with 357 just imagine what it would do to a criminal at 5 yards......attention coroner----bring a shovel and a mop

nice... congrats...

that does look like it will hurt when you fire it..

JaxChris

A snubnose 357magnum? Ugh. I guess Cris is celebrating Obama promising to end "don't ask, don't tell" so he can finally join the Army Reserve openly. =)~

Cris
10-11-2009, 10:09 AM
Yes its a .357. Chris is right, it physically hurts to shoot this gun. Definitely not a range shooter, but when it comes to defense you won't even notice it because your adrenaline will be flowing.

Yes it is replacing the LCP, since I lost the rights to carry that one. The woman got a hold of it and said she liked it and that it fit her purse better. So who am I to not let her carry something she likes better.

tsk tsk tsk. Nice purchase. Let's take her to the range. I'll donate a box of .357 :)

Dan

I love it. All that firepower in a little package. Definitely not a range shooter except to throw a few down range to make sure it works and you can hit something. It is with out a doubt a crime stopper. That is pure knockdown power.

JaxChris
10-11-2009, 03:28 PM
Is that a bronze wheel and grip?

Cris

Titanium wheel, rubber grip.

We'll only need one bullet per person, that's usually enough for most people. I shot one before, it was not pleasant.

I would love to take a shot or two with that monster.

Dan, make a Mosin Nagant pistol and one-hand it... probably quite similar. lol

I need to get to the range, you are more than welcome to squeeze off a few rounds.

chrismia

really? it hurts that bad?

my taurus isn't that bad with .357 loads, but with .38 i can shoot it all day long

JaxChris
10-12-2009, 12:52 AM
You shooting 357Sig or 357Mag?

Cris
10-12-2009, 07:27 AM
.357 magnums. The Taurus is a slightly larger frame and heavier make it easier to shoot all around. I didn't want a brick in my pocket which is why I went with the scandium and titanium model.

chrismia
10-12-2009, 09:06 AM
ah, got it.

i bet even .38 +p's will hurt.

yes, my 7 shot taurus is a small brick.

Cris
10-12-2009, 09:18 AM
You will make it through a few more rounds, basically any round in this gun will not be fun to shoot just for the frame size of the gun alone. With the gun only weighing 12 oz, its a great pocket gun not a fun shooter.

that's why I haven't gotten one yet either. it's on "the list" there's just other things higher on the list :) after a few more things it'll be time to pick one up

yup other things are way higher on my list. My current interest is trying to get a bolt action. Need to convince the wifey though. My B-Day is coming up and trying to convince her to buy me a Remy but she really doesn't want to buy me another gun lol

ProfessorStoneFace

half the time I go to the shop I end up fondling an HK 45 or an HK P30, one of those will be my next gun. they just fit my hand perfectly, so comfortable. I'll probably get the HK 45 first since I don't own a 45 caliber pistol yet and I like getting the larger calibers. I don't have a 9mm yet either so that's after the 45 and it'll be nice to have a cheaper gun for the range.

as far as rifles I'd like to build a .308 AR or a bolt action .308, not sure which yet. if I had the extra cash there's a .308 POF at GunTech right now that's pretty gangster. cash in hand that that would be pretty hard to resist :)

anthony20031
02-17-2010, 01:53 PM
What does Guntech sell the Remy .308s for? I know there are multiple models but for say the SPS for example. Can you guys let me know if you get a used on in as well?

ss1
02-17-2010, 02:09 PM
No used ones unless Cris wants to sell his.... lol. I'll have to check on the price, but slowbra/asian joe bought his recently enough to remember. I know they are relatively inexpensive and you can pimp them up when you have the extra cash.

yeah no used ones right now. there's so many options the best thing would be to get the Remington order # from their web site. then we can make sure you're getting the right price for the right gun.

JaxChris
02-17-2010, 08:24 PM
Buy it as my 30th birthday present... just buy 2, send one to me, and then tell her the 2nd was 50% off when you buy 2.

I want to say they were right around $600. Mine is not up for sale. I actually blew the dust off it the other day and did the background and paid for it. Hopefully it is being sent off this week to get threaded and have a brake put on it.

I was planning one, but then realized the wife didn't have a passport so I had to put it on hold. One of my employees told me about it and they loved it completely, but I personally haven't tried it.

Atlantis for a 4 night 5 day stay would ring in at about $4k if you include a meal plan, flights etc. Also includes a nice dive in the wrecks (only about 120 for 2 poeple)

Ive got lines on 4, 5, and 7 day Carnival Cruises through my work for $299, $399 AND $499 respectively per person. Only additional charges would be ~300 in combined port fees no matter the length, alcohol and gambling if desired, and taxes. PM me if you are at all interested (anyone).

I've been researching revolvers all day and I have to ask.... Why would anyone get these light weight 340s when they got the 386? It's about the same size right? But the extra weight would actually make it a little easier to shoot I would imagine.

Cris
02-19-2010, 09:10 PM
Not easier to carry though. The 340PD is a dream to carry, you don't even know its there.

What kind of holster you got for that thing?

most people just use a pocket holster with that revolver, just disappears.

the weight is a double edged sword with carry guns. less weight means it's easier to carry, but the recoil goes up. more weight is more of a pain to carry so you'll be less likely to carry (not good) but the extra weight removes some of the recoil making it more fun at the range.

my carry guns are kinda in the middle, not the absolute lightest guns but they don't hurt to shoot. I still want a 340PD one day though :)

I got a S&W 642 I carry in the pocket, but would like a holster I can carry it in say on the weak side as a back up. I thought about those grip clip looking things, but not sure how that would work if I have to run or be physical.

ProfessorStoneFace
02-24-2010, 02:31 PM
that's the catch. the frame clips work ok if you're just walking around but they don't really hold the gun securely and then the gun is rubbing on your body which isn't always comfortable. I'm sure Crossbreed makes a holster for the 642, that would be the most comfortable. I'm guessing you could get one for your dominant side then just wear it on your weak side.

Ok, I shot the 340PD this weekend. I wish I had more ammo for it as I only shot 10 rounds leaving me with 10 left for self defense. It was pretty violent in recoil, but not as much as I was expecting. Still, the blast was enough to pull the target through half the staples I had used from 15'. Also shot about 200 rounds of .45 through the refurbed 645 I picked up a couple of weeks ago. VERY happy with that purchase.
