Howabout a sports and outdoor section. For those that love to fish and hunt. Its a variety of things that for some form include guns.
If the outdoor section is a bit much, at least consider the sports section, I could see running some sporting contests there esepcially for football, wrestling (entertainment I know) UFC, and the playoffs for some of the other sports.
On that same note what about an entertainment section. Something for Movies, music, and games. I know this could go into off topic but it would broaden things a bit and allow off topic to be more like a UC, MIsc, or Asylum where everything can or could go with a less than serious tag attached.
Just a few thoughts, nothing big
I am serious about the sports one, I could see some points betting going on which with a little work and time could be used to by access to other stuff here.

Cris is afraid that if there's a sports section that we'd end up talking about fantasy football. *gasp* He's allergic. But I can tell you there will be a heated World Cup thread coming soon enough. =)

GO USA...just qualified lol. Hunting forum would be cool...not sure if we have enough people to justify a seperate hunting section though. I am curious to try hunting some hogs if anyone has any info on it. Seems kinda expensive from what I have seen to hunt an animal that is considered a pest though
A car/racing section would be cool :bolt:
UFC is fun too

Pssh, if you play my Italians you're going down Anthony! French have to fight dirty and cheat to compete with us. =)
(But I was more surprised to just see a Frenchie fight instead of waving a white flag for once)

LOL, I know. Don't get me wrong they have come a long way and out of no where to be great competitor. It has been four years and I am sure they have come a long way since the last World Cup. Since I don't follow on a regular basis, I have to wait to see what they bring this time. Yes I stand by home team also, unfortunately that makes two of them USA and Argentina.

I have a bad habit of calling everything a section. I was not talking about a root forum, but a sub forum or a child in the off topic.
Honestly I am not big into fantasy, but I do love the free gambling threads. Generally the way it would work would be everybody would start off with a said number of points or E money and then you go from there and bet on various events. There is generally an ending point and in that ending point, you get bragging rights, and in some cases even a small prize of some sort.
I guess it boils down more to does anyone else have any interest in something like that, the key is in the interest in it and the activity it would generate, if there is little to no interest then it would do little for the forum or the site.

What used to be free, easy and cheap has now been made into more of a sport. People that hunt deer (in Texas at least) usually get a shot at a few of them every year on their leases. Back in the day, farmers would almost beg you to shoot them, now so much of the land is leased for bird hunting, plus its a big sport for people that hunt them with dogs and traps. Those people started paying and leasing land just for that and hence money was made and now most would rather see their land destroyed buy hogs, or kill them themselves and leave them laying there than let somebody go out and kill one for free.
If you really wanted to spend some money to hog hunt Anthony one thing you might find fun is in Milam County Texas, they hunt with AR's with night vision and infrared. The cost is only 400 dollars, but it would be alot more than that if you are coming from Florida..lol
let me see if I can find that link for it...
I was wrong they are in Madison County Texas
Heres the link

There are other deals on there that are cheaper, but that one just looks like fun...lol

yh I could understand paying for a night shoot with night vision. That would be kinda cool. But down here it seems the normal low end price is like $300 for one day and that only includes 1 kill and if the tusks are over 2 1/2 inches they will charge you more for it being a trophy kill lol. Seems a little ridiculous.

If you want to eat it then you do not want a trophy. Females and small pigs are what you want, a bite into a big boar that isn't nutted and fed out may have you never wanting to eat bacon again.

Yh I've read that you want to stick to sows and any boar under 150lbs really.

and you NEVER want to eat a feral hog...

why do you say that? Isn't the literally sense of a Feral Hog one that was domesticated that is now wild. So what would be the reason you would not want to eat them?

they are nasty, flee and tick and parasite bags... plus the meat is super gamy

Feral hogs provide excellent table fare, represent a challenging game species to pursue with weapon or dog, and compete with the white-tailed deer in some areas as the most popular animal to hunt. As mentioned, there are many pro's and con's regarding the status of feral hogs and there always will be as long as we have biologists, farmers, ranchers, hunters, and of course, the feral hog.
Just read that on a site. For most intents and purposes a feral hog (the definition seems hazy) is described as a hog descendancy line started as a domesticated pig. This would make me believe that nearly all if not all hogs in SFLA are feral. Others claim that a hog can only be considered feral if they started their own life as domesticated and then became wild. Most websites I have done research on seem to just call them all feral hogs. Shit confuses me lol

I think it may have to do more with their diet as to how they taste. I've heard the more corn etc they eat and things of that nature the better they will taste. But I have no clue, but I really want to learn more and try my hand at it.
From what I have heard a lot of people will catch the wild ones and corn feed them for a while to help the taste. As well as if they are male cut their balls off.
thats the prob with these free range hogs.. they eat whatever they find, and hence taste like shit themselves.... I have had my share of hogs from my buddies that hunt( no I dont mean their fat wives) LOL...
when they hunt them from a preserve were the animals are corn fed.. those are ok.. when its a free range or Feral Hog, Ill pass...
I have a buddy that raises pigs, feeds them flowers, corn, fruit, and goat milk.. those are AWESOME
Yeah, the gameness is from their diet mostly but you can prepare almost any game in dishes that "cookout" the gameness such as stews and milk marinades.

The mature boars have high testosterone levels, and they have glands in their hind quarters and behind their ears that if left in when they are killed will give the meat a foul taste. I think nuttin em kills the glands but I'm not positive. The Glands are pheramone (sp)glands they they use to rub their sent on things for breeding and marking terrirory and stuff along those lines.
A big reason people like the live catch other than excitement is that they can feed them out and get anything nasty out of their systems.

You're suppose to catch them in a cage and then slit their throats with ka-bar in their sleep. Ha
