A friend of mine's brother had a Springfield 1911 explode in his hand. If I were to buy a 1911 it would be a Colt or Kimber.

Yeah and in most cases you have a good gun like a glock, XD, 1911, or AR15 explode it's usually some jackass with a dud that tries firing again when there's a bullet stuck half way down the barrel.

Springfield 1911 TRP Operator is pure sex... just can't bring myself to spend 1200$ on a super sexy one. If I'm going to spend that much on a weapon it would have to be one I'd actually use and not let sit in a safe.

Since I can't open carry in Florida, it would never get any carry time. =(

Kimbers are ok. I'd say they offered a better than Colt product when Colt was starting to have some bad QC and providing what was normally custom upgrades for much less than a custom tuned 1911. Today, I think Kimbers are decent but certainly overrated by many people. I really am not a big fan of their proprietary firing pin block/safety but other than that, they are generally well made. Dollar for dollar, I think you get more gun from a Springfield Operator than a comparably priced Kimber.

so now that my deal fell through.. ( I'm bumb'd out, but also pleased that the original seller came clean and told me it had rust BEFORE I sent him the payment, even offered to lower the price to $600.00, but I dont want to deal with the rust no mater how minor it may be)

I can begin the search for a new 1911..

let me know if you hear of a "Great Deal"

:poke:

I put every single stainless Kimber and Springfield in my hands at the show.. made an offer on a TRP ($1200.00) and the guy told me to leave and come back when I had more sense... so I called up the original guy with the SS TRP and we got a deal done today...

in the end, I liked the look and feel of the TRP.. the SS finish was more like what I was looking for.. I did not want a rail , although the operator I saw at the show was pretty hot... all the goodies on the TRP means no more spending to upgrade it.. so, now I play the waiting game..... :lino2:

yup lol...Now got a Nagant, AR and SR9 and still looking lol....

She has been pretty good with everything even with the new house and hearing me talk about wanting to get some more things. When I told her the other day I wanted to pick up a .22 and how cheap the ammo was she just smiled and just said ok sounds like fun. :prettyplease::2ars:

Although in all honesty I will probably, ie hopefully, get the .22 before the end of this year or as a christmas present. After that things will probably go on hold for a while as the wife has demanded that for her 30th birthday in February I have two options. 1) buy her a bike or 2) take her to an exotic location. :suicide2: Gotta figure out how I'm gonna fund one of those, plus furnishing/working on the house and putting money away for a rainy day lol
