OK so if I havent mentioned it Ive been farting around with my XD lately and really just plan on making it my test mule for near about everything.
I just cant break the damn thing

SO first we have the original gun, well used some scratches etc.

I recently stippled the grip

Ive recently talked to a machinist to do some slide work
This pic came off another forum but its about what I want to have done with three reliefs not 5. In fact Im waiting as we speak on the price quote
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/chrisbean109/xdslide3.jpg

I went ahead and ordered the cough cough (overpriced magwell)
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/chrisbean109/magwell.jpg

I also ordered a extended mag release from Dillon Precison for 16 bucks
(thats more like it)

I also will most likely order some of these sights tonight.
Massad Ayoob who is and has been my firearms idol for a few years says theyre good so Im willing to give them a try and my eyes are not as good as they used to be so we shall see. Found them for about 90 bucks

I will most likely strip the slide tonight with aluminum oxide to give it a matte stainless look and then ship it off for the work I cant do.

Lastly I have begun speaking with a gentleman which owns a laser etching business to do some laser etching into the slide
Here is some of his work

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/chrisbean109/chuck2.jpg

I plan on having this logo put into the slide just to the rear of the rear site and my Initials on the right side of the slide

I may have the magwell traditionally engraved with a deeper cut, not quite sure yet. The laser engraving is very affordable and the end results are quite nice.

As always Ill be taking pics along the way and will probably make another movie or movies detailing the builds etc

I like the graphic your having put on. Of course I am pretty sure I was a pirate in my past lives and if I could afford a sail boat would probably start today. Minus the rape.

I like the machine work also, its gotta feel nice when you take something like that and turn it into something that is truly yours without compromising the integrity of of it.

I look forward to the eventual finished pictures we will all hopefully get to see.

left them out but I like the sites also. If i ever get where i want to be then I could easily see spending the money to try them out. Quick question, can you put them on yourself or do you have to have them put on by a professional...( this probably excludes you since you know some gunsmithing)?

XD sights are def. not something I would suggest a do it yourselfer do.

It takes a BFH and a steady hand. You can easily damage your gun if you arent experianced with it. You have to also fit the sights into the dovetail and if you make a mistake 100 dollar sights go into the crapper

Glocks on the other hand I think every gun owner is capable of

I do plan on the install but Ive done more than my share and just happen to have a brandy new sight pusher and a BFH

XD sights are definitely a fun task to install. It takes time and patience. Sometimes getting the originals out are very difficult. Then matching the dovetail is obviously a tedious job.

By the way Guntech just received a new pusher to put sights back on the gun, not for removing. Waiting to try that baby out.
