I went to the gun show at the fairgrounds last week. I bought a case of Winchester 5.56 frangible to shoot at American Gun Range in Pembroke. When I got home, I broke open the case and inspected the ammo, as I do to all of my ammo. To my surprise, seven out of the ten boxes had several rounds of ammo loaded far too short (1/4 to 1/2") of the OAL of a normal round. I could actually twist the bullet head with my fingers. It seemed as if there was no taper crimp at all. I also noticed that the rounds were especially dirty (dull brass) and had several dings around the neck of the brass. I was mostly worried about increased cartridge pressure. It sure did not look like factory fresh ammo. I contacted Winchester and they are sending me a UPS return label and want to inspect the ammo. So, I am out of ammo until they return a case to me. I hope, for my trouble that they send me a bonus, but I am not holding my breath.

Well aint that some sit! I remember I bought a box or speer .45 for my G30 and a few of the rds in the box were smashed.
Goes to show you must always inspect your ammo. Thanks for the heads up in this one!

Damn that does suck. Hopefully they send you a goodie bag for the inconvenience

Good that you caught it though. Now let's see if Winchester tries to claim they were reloads. Georgia Arms always claims you sent other peoples ammo when you have an issue with theirs, saying they don't use this brass or that brass and your brass is mixed. Yet all the GA reman's I've bought have been mixed headstamps.

They wouldn't replace the ammo so they sent me a check for $100 and I will spend it on different 5.56 frangible. They said they would let me know what the problem was, but it is now Jan. and I have not heard a thing.

Did the 100$ cover the cost of the amount of ammo you sent them?

yh I don't see a case of 5.56 costing $100 lol

+1 I hope it somehow covered your costs, but $100 doesn't get you far with frangible ammo. Not even a 1/4 case.

Nope! Frangible is pretty pricey just about everywhere.

Frangible comes 200 rounds per case (Winchester). I paid $86.00 for the case and they gave me $100. I guess I got $14 for my trouble.

How much did it cost you to ship the ammo to them? At least they did pay out more than was paid for it.

I think getting money back from anyone today is a always a good thing
