I slept with it under my pillow... :hump:

not sure if I want crimson trace

I like the VZ Alien in Black Desert

crimson trace is nice on the 1911 cause it replaces the grips right? That's cool because on some guns lie the glocks it makes them to thick, but the 1911 I think stays about the same.

I wish CTC would get off their ass and make a LaserGuard for the XD's. I don't care for the LaserGrip's.

Get the CellPal holster Lino. I tried one of those with a 1911 and other than feeling cold steel on your leg all day it was very comfortable and retained motion.

Try one out at the next show. The guy at the Florida shows uses heavy metal shells of various weapons that have the exact shape and similar weight to try out. It's much better than the holster dealers that use the colored rubber or plastic dummies that don't have realistic weight to them. Many holsters out there, at the shows, that hold up to dummies won't handle the real pistol when fully loaded with ammo.

pistol when fully loaded with ammo.

this has got to be close to 45-50oz loaded..

I believe, and most holster demo props made of rubber or plastic don't give any real feel to how the weapon would be carried unless you bring your weapon.

Most TRP models run about 45oz which is heavier than your typical 1911, but the added weight is mostly up front which keeps the muzzle rise to a minimum for very fast follow-up shots.

so........ my VZ grips came in :) but I ordered the wrong ones:(

I have to send them back for ones with an ambi cut. The vendor is located in Tallahasee, we'll see how the customer service is at handling thses types of exchanges.

here are some pics...

removing the original grips... the screws were in very tight so I took care not to strip them...

I took this opportunity to clean up the gun a little..

here she is naked.. not what you normally see when I say that :raspberry:

the final product:
I really like the look and feel of these grips. They have a lower profile than the originals...the grips have rough texture, but surprisingly, not uncomfortable unlike the 20 lpi front strap checkering... I am looking forward to taking it for a range test... might end up needing gloves for this one....
