FAST FACTS:
Two TRG Security Guards arrested Tuesday
One charged with Agg. Assault, the other with Reckless Endangerment
Victim was trying to drive away from the complex

(Memphis 11/11/2009) Two security guards are accused of shooting at an unarmed man who was trying to drive away from an apartment complex.

One guard told cops the only reason she started shooting was because her partner was.

It happened at the 1300 block of Winchester at the Highland Creek Apartments. The 30-year-old victim tells WREG he stopped by the apartment complex around as he was getting off work. He says he was trying to get a hold of his cousin.

12:30 a.m. neighbor Demetrius Lee woke up to the sound of gunshots.

"I heard about three," he said.

But he had no idea it was the two security guards on duty at his complex firing their weapons.

36-year-old Lemonta Lewis and his 53-year-old partner, Bella Granger, aimed at the victim's work truck and pulled the trigger while he was still inside.

"Hit his windshield took his windshield out, at least two more shots were fired," said the victim's attorney, Randy Fishman.

He says it all started because his client got upset at the way one of the guards grabbed his wallet to get a look at his ID. He tried to drive off, but police say Lewis stood in front of his truck and fired two bullets. Granger told cops she had no idea who fired the shots, but started shooting to keep the truck from leaving the property.

"As a security guard, you're required to have a little judgement," said Fishman.

Police say the 5 foot 9, 285-pound guard picked up the victim and pinned him to the ground, while Granger kicked him in the mouth.

"I've seen none of this, I haven't seen a report yet," said Jonathan Wogan, the manager at the Highland Creek apartment complex.

Tuesday he told us they had a tough time getting answers from TRG Security, the company that employs the guards.

However, he said, "It's not a shooting like someone shooting at someone else. It's security trying to get a vehicle to stop."

"We're out in the wild wild west in a sense and it's very disturbing to me," said Fishman.

The victim tells WREG he went to the emergency room for a split lip, a bruised neck, and a back injury. Efforts to contact TRG Security were unsuccessful.

what would you done if you were the one being shooted and you have your gun with you?

they are not police... you can defend yourself.... but again, they could be off duty police officers working as security.
you have fear for your life in front of those idiots.... but again, there are not witness and you are in the likely position of an intruder...

Questionable scenarios, as you know the news does not always print the true story.

There may be more to the story don't get me wrong, but even then there wording of the story is rediculous. If they were off duty PD I think there reason for shooting would have been better than, "my partner started shooting, so I did to.". Then again you never know these days!
