whats the difference between a gp wasar and a romanian warsar? sooo many ak variants, and whats a cheap one that is decent?(not going to have bent sights and other such crap imperfections)
I'm not the AK expert here, but all WASR's are Romanian. WASR 10's are semi-auto AKM's in the standard 7.62 x 39 caliber. GP just stands for general purpose and was something that the importer Century Arms added to the WASR name. Basically all romy AK's are considered among the lower end of the AK's. That's about the extent of what I know about Century Arms WASR's.
are you looking for a specific model? an underfolder, fixed stock, side folder..
do you want a safe queen, or a battle rifle? do you want wood, or plastic?
I looked into allot of AK's.. we had a thread on hear somewhere with some good deal for around $450.00..
give us some more info as to what you are looking for..

what is wrong with your Yugo.. that is a pretty good battle rifle...
Bulgarian side folders have a good reputation...the Polish Tantal Ak's have side folders, Norinco (Chinese)have side folders, also Romanians as well .. I think the Madi ( Egypt) also is a side folder..
almost all AK's have a fixed stock variant..
it all depends on what you want to spend..
post up a picks of this peep sight you speak of..
dont get me wrong i love the yugo but the underfolding is kind of a pain in the ass, side folders are a much better way to go in my opinion, which one did you say was about 450?
I like those sights.. Ask JaxChris about the bargains.. I cant remember the deal he found, but it was pretty low.. I think it was for a Romanian..

my sights are for shit, or at least I am not good with them.. I have a Yugo underfolder as well..

it looks good... I think you have a pretty good Ak right there.. the Yugo is rated very highly on all the AK sites..
haha holy crap that picture turned out to be huge! i thought it would be small since it was from my phone, yea i did a few things to it as well, i polished up the hammer and the sear a bit so its smoother, also i made a bolt hold open by cutting out a section in the saftey, and i had to alter the rails to fit on the yugo since it wasnt made for them, also removed the front gernade launcher sight.

A Lancaster Arms "Russian Red", and a GP-1975 Romanian
If you're looking for good value go with a GP-1975 Romanian. They are a little nicer finished than the WASR-10 Romanian models are. If you do go with an underfolder, go with a Yugo over a Romanian. Handle and eyeball both and you will see why. If you like pretty, go with a Lancaster Arms or a Arsenal. I like them all. You can never have too many AK's ! Bill T.
