YouTube - HK (Heckler & Koch) versus Colt (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGwkHktkTxU&feature=rec-LGOUT-exp_fresh+div-1r-5-HM)
I though that water issue was resolved back in the nam era.
It is amazing what difference a gas system makes. Looks like the M4's days are numbered in the military and not to throw dirt on good old Stoner, after all it seems that most assault newcomers like the HK-416, FN SCAR, Masada/ACR and SIG556 have some black rifle blueprinted in their design.
Introduced in 1958 and original in every sense of the word, the AR took some time to become what it is today and I think finally arms manucfacturers are taking advantage of its refined +s and are adding the +s of other type rifles, to increase the level of reliability, functionality and performance in a design.

yh but isn't the main advantage of the HK416 just that it is a piston system? M4/AR15 whatever you wanna call them are now available in piston systems. For the most part though it mimics the M4 and HK even wanted to call it the HK M4 but Colt was going to try to sue from I've heard.
I like the idea of going over the the piston system. Not sure if there are any disadvantages to it...so if anyone wants to point them out lol
I want one... piston FTW.. I almost trade mine for a LMT piston plus some money but the guy did not do the deal.. it is a future project.. for now Im broke...

The negatives for the piston systems are positives on the gas tube models, like weight (front heavy) and more moving parts. The advantages also go further than just able to work under water. They also keep carbon and heat away from the bolt & bolt carrier system.
On a episode of Modern Weapons they shot a mag on full auto and they were able to fieldstrip and handle the bolt group parts and not get burned.

pistons run very cool and clean but tend to be a bit front heavy but not to bad... downside is about 350.00 bucks to get a piston kit and change over from standard gas blowback
i think the piston system is overall the best, for most all assault rifles, this guy needs to get out of his moms garden poon before he gets yelled at!
OK, cool test but what is with the GAY German butt grabbing club music? I was waiting for him to pop out of the water in ass-less chaps and start dancing with a glow stick in his mouth.

lol...I heard some people prefer the gas system over the piston though...Funny becuase I have seen the same test done above (firing after taking it out of the water not that last test in the water) and a gas impingement system worked fine. Tilted it and gave it a half second to drain though.

lets test it with yours...:raspberry:

lol...ummmmm no lol
Adam's Arms piston systems price is decreasing. Just have to make sure you have a rail that will support it.

Adam's Arms has been putting the piston system on sale for 250$ a lot lately. Odd since the original system was 199$. But then they included a special bolt carrier (still use your old bolt) and the price went to 500$.
From all the comparisons and reviews of competing pistons, Adam's Arms still appears to be the best.
how hard are those to install?

If you have the tools, and can remove your FSB without issue, then you can install a piston retrofit kit.
so yes its a pain in the crotch then...
