lol I wish...that went to the rainy day fund.

The wifey said she would buy me the .22 for christmas...hmmm maybe try to convince her on the 1911 or something. I know my real focus though for the next year will be the 10/22, the CC pistol and probably the .308. Though if I can get the SR9 to not print then that will solve my CC issue and allow me to pick up a 1911 instead

JaxChris

Carry/Holster - 500$
10/22 - 450$
308 - 2000$
1911 - 1000$

See, 4k would've covered it perfect.

The reason for the finger on the trigger is in the binary code tatoo.

Satan_3pc
12-08-2009, 11:39 AM
Yeah, it says, "You want to fuck me, so you don't care about my trigger discipline."

Actually that amount of binary wouldn't say much. Maybe one word. Maybe it just says "Fuck me" *shrug*

yh well most guns in movies are actually fakes...or at the least altered to only shoot blanks without messing up the gun

ss1
12-08-2009, 01:29 PM
I don't know if you noticed but the tat on her hand is a continuation of the artwork on the grips. Sort of zen become one with the gun kind of thing.

It does look like a real 1911 however it does have a funky "trigger bar" thing going there not unlike a Beretta 92. At first I thought it might be a double stack frame and it was possibly a para or STI, but it really doesn't look like it. Angelina sure has a purty mouth tho.

anthony20031
12-08-2009, 10:43 PM
you know how that happened right? The gun I believe was designed to shoot blanks, like stated above, but in one scene I believe they wanted to show him loading the gun so they loaded it with some rounds and he was to chamber a round. Apparently the crew didn't want to get dummy rounds, what is normally used, so they took live rounds, took out the bullet, dumped the powder and reinserted the bullet. Then they went to shoot the scene where the thug then shoots and kills him at the beginning of the movie. Well unbeknownst to the crew when they cleared the firearm of the "live rounds" they had not realized that the round that had been chambered, the bullet had come out of the case and was in the barrel. The gun was loaded then with blanks as it was an altered gun specific to shoot blanks. When he pulled the trigger, the pressure forced the bullet down the remaining part of the barrel and hit Lee and killed him.

Satan_3pc
12-08-2009, 11:27 PM
Yeah that's basicly how the story went. They were behind schedule, so they made blanks out of live rounds, but they had a squib that went unnoticed. So it could have been prevented entirely if they were so incompetent. Then as you stated, the scene they were shooting was at point blank range, and the blank had enough force to push the squib out through the chamber and down the barrel.

From what I understand though, they don't alter anything really. They just use blank rounds in real guns. Who knows, it may just depend what set you're on, and what movie it is.

anthony20031
12-09-2009, 09:44 AM
I thought for those guns they altered them? Maybe not

ss1
12-09-2009, 09:51 AM
For revolvers which what was used in Brandon's accident, there isn't much of a need to modify the gun. They could have welded a plug in the barrel and effectively made it a large caliber starter's pistol but they didn't. Semi-autos need to be modified to fire the blanks and cycle. Usually it means reducing the recoil spring, sometimes removing mass from the slide, and restricting or plugging the barrel, and modifying the magazine. Doing all this would create a catastrophic failure if real ammunition were used in them.

Satan_3pc
12-09-2009, 10:09 AM
That makes sense.

anthony20031
12-09-2009, 10:38 AM
yup thanks C3PO!

JaxChris
12-11-2009, 09:06 PM
I once remembered hearing that they put special barrels in prop guns that have grates in them. This way if the gun accidentally has a live round in it, the barrel will shred itself. Definitely a catastrophic failure, but better than shooting someone.

Again, no clue if it's true but it kind of made sense to me.

I have a sig gsr revolution. must say its one gun I will never part with. it's a dream to shoot and handle. highly recommend them. in my eyes, out the box, you can't go wrong with either the sig gsr or the springfield operator. but either one is above your limit. for that money, the pt1911 is a good buy. anyother brand and you would be giving up features out the box.

I have a strange love for the Taurus because it was my first gun.. as for 1911's I think they make a fine example of an entry level gun.. I myself do not have a Taurus 1911 YET.. but I do have a SA 1911...

I'm not a fan either, but seems you can't be a true gun guy without at least owning one 1911. I've heard all kinds of good things about the platform and mods you can do to it. I'll probably make it a project piece since I can't use it for work or anything.

probably similar to carrying the Five-seveN. I have that in a crossbreed supertuck and it's great but when you sit you know it's there and you have to be a little careful of the handle poking when you lean over. for the size of the gun it's not too bad but not as simple to carry as my Glock 27.
