The deadliest weapon on the battlefield is neither bullet nor gun; it's the lone sniper. Journey inside the science and psychology behind the greatest shots in military history, through the scope of the world's most extreme marksmen. Deconstruct the missions, ranging from Vietnam to Iraq to Afghanistan, presented by the men who were there and pulled the trigger. For the first time on American television Canadian sniper Robert Furlong, tells the story of his history-making shot in Afghanistan--striking a Taliban fighter from 1.5 miles away. Ballistics... Tactics... Weaponry... Stalking... This two-hour special examines these critical components in vivid detail, combining interviews with cinematic reenactments, CGI and present day shooting demonstrations to put the viewer squarely inside the crosshairs.

Sounds awesome...I love watching those sniper shows on the military channel.
Just one comment....says in the snippet "the lone sniper" but snipers don't work solo. They work in teams of two with a spotter. Also often they send out multiple sniper teams so that they will have multiple views on a potential target

I guess it depends on the mission and/or situation at that time.

They must be doing the show only about Canadian snipers? Considering the size of their military they probably only have 5 snipers total and each have to work alone... lol

Canadians!.......
I also have my own twisted opinions about them but you must give credit where credit is due thx. to Mr. Furlong's longest confirmed kill.
In 2002 during the war in Afghanistan (Shah-i-Kot Valley), Mr. Furlong launched a .50 Cal. projectile via a McMillan TAC-50 bolt-action rifle to a distance of 1.51 miles / 2,657 yds / 2,430 meters striking its intended target.
Just for shits & giggles, utilizing a ballistic calculator, it is possible to reproduce that same trajectory and time-in-flight of such a ranged shot. With a nominal muzzle velocity of 2,910 feet (890 m) per second for the .50 BMG M1022 LRS round, and an estimated ballistic coefficient of 1.05, such a shot fired at the estimated altitude of 9,000 feet (2,700 m), would have taken 3.92 seconds to reach the target, and drop 155.8 feet (47.5 m) during flight. Also note at such a long range, even a light breeze of 20 kilometres (12 mi) per hour would have blown the bullet off target by 20.8 feet (6.3 m).

I still prefer Ranstad's 2100m One-Shot-One-Kill wonder in 2008 (Go Army!). I wonder if the Canadian will mention how many rounds it took to hit his target?

The sniper's perspective/interviews were excellent. Their description of events brings you closer to their scenario than just reading about it.

Show was awesome! The interviews were damn good also. Watching the recreation of some of those shots shows you just how difficult they really were to make at the time. History Channel did good by this one!

The sniper during the interview commented that they were fearless (aka dumb as shit) cus the rounds hitting the ground near them didn't even phase them. They just looked around with a pissed off face and continued on lolol. The first shot hit the ground near them, the second hit the backpack of the guy he was aiming for and then the third shot hit him.

If a 50 cal hits your pack I would think it is knocking you down or spinning you. Weird.

Well for starters who knows what was in dudes pack. Then I guess an arguement could be made about the range having something to do with it also.

I was most impressed by the one sniper that shot and took out 3 insurgents behind a concrete wall with a single .50 call round at 1 mile. That's impressive!

This shot was the shit as well! To think this was back in a whole other era where there weapons weren't even as evolved as todays.
Damn good show, finished watching it last night.
