well i made my first purchase last week. I bought a marlin 795 .22 it was cheap but reviews say its highly accurate and reliable. I get to pick it up tomorrow. anyways i went to bass pro and they are all out of ammo all they had its thunderbolts(which i hear are garbage) and some winchester xperts(which ive heard are garbage as well) i was wondering were you guys in s.fl pick up your .22 ammo. preferable bulk. i was looking for maybe federal bulk or some cci blazers.
where should i go to get them?

My experience Federal has not failed me yet. I have had issues with Thunderbolt. I'm mixing what I have left into mags to cycle it out. The Federal bulk works for me and the price is right. CCI no issues either.

remington bulk here, wolf match target when im trying
you can buy online from a ton of places if your short in SF
They had plenty of Remington at Bass Pro when I was there the other week. I grabbed two bulk boxes. Actually come to think of it, I am sure there was a run on it, with possibilities of Christmas .22's.

yh I was there Cris a day or two before Christmas and they were all gone. They just had some JHP and the thunderbolts. I grabbed the thunderbolts just so that I would have something to shoot
Looks like Phil and I ruined your chances of getting some decent ammo.

ya'll bought out all the ammo...maybe ill just pick up some thunderbolts. They still had plenty of those. I just hear so much negative feedback about them. but i guess shooting something is better then not shooting at all. Ill run to bass pro later today and fingers crossed they have restocked. what about the local gun shops any of them have decent pricing although im sure they all ran out too

If you're shooting bolt-action, then you can run any 22LR you want. All the negative feedback you hear about 22LR is when it's used in semi-auto dedicated and converted rifles. Federal has the most consistent case rim for reliable feeding... most other brands are crap in that aspect.

i am shooting semi auto so i have to be careful with the ammo i put into to avoid wasting my money on useless ammo
I never had issues with Thunderbolts, back in the day that is.

But that is with a 10/22, right Cris? You don't have a semi-auto 22? Even the Walther P22 is considered the pickiest when it comes to what ammo it likes.
It was in an old Marlin semi auto.

Really? Hmmm, I guess all those plastic toys (GSG's) and Black Dog mags really are to blame then.
I have had no issues with my Hot Lips magazines. They work awesome and have a nice speed loader for them also. It worked well enough C3PO picked up a loader also. They work an any steel lined mags, hot lips and factory rotary mags from Ruger.

What match ammo (from your experience) do you recomend?
I have some old Federal which I bought years ago for plinking with my 10/22 but now that I have a new toy in .22 LR, I would like to run some match ammo thru it.
I've heard that Wolf Match is pretty good. Any one has any experience with it?
