Price shows 149$, click on the 20$ off 100$ banner below the Add to Cart area to get 20$ off. With 380 being so hard to get, 12.90$/box turns out to be a really good price for brass 380 ammo.

Surprising someone even has it.

Exactly... considering how very seasonal of a round it is. Luckily, other places have started making it and importing it in because of the recent popularity of 380 pocket pistols.

why the shortage of this caliber?

Not a shortage. The 380 round is just a very small demand caliber, so it's considered seasonal. This means it is only produced by the big outfits certain times of the year in rotation with other such rounds (.25, .32, .45gap, .357sig, 10mm, etc) on a timeshare basis with the same machines (produce, retool, produce, retool, etc). But the more common calibers (.223, .308, .45acp, 9mm, .40sw, .357mag, etc) are produced year round on dedicated machinery.

Since the 380 was never popular before the LCP & P3AT came out, most outfits have refused to increase production or dedicate machinery to that round full time because once the initial rush on those guns and that round is over nobody will be looking for it in high quantity anymore. I don't think anyone would have a 380 as their main range pistol either.

FYI.. Cabelas still has the .380 available (in stock) 149.00 per 500 + shipping. The $20 off orders over 100.00 is still in effect as well and that washes the shipping charges. Thanks Jax for the heads up on that one.
