Can anyone answer this? S+W460 question

S+W 460 will fire as you probally all know
45 long colt
454 casull
and the monster 460 magnum
so here's the question could i safely shoot 410 shot shells from it? They are the same diameter and its done on the taurus judge which shoots 45 LC and 410 shot shells. What do you think? I believe it would be fine unless i am missing some thing@!#%

I don't know the dimensions of the cylinder of a .460 but the shortest .410 cartridge length is 2.5" unfired. I would think that adding another .3" for a fired hull to clear the revolving cylinder, so you would need a cylinder length requirement of at least 2.8". The S&W .460 cartridge overall length is 2.300". So if S&W designed the cylinder with at least .500 of space to the forcing cone then maybe. My guess is that it's not long enough.

looks like i need to do some measuring time to get the mossberg 410 out and measure a fired shell

well after getting off my butt to see if this will work i am a little dissapointed. The 460 cylinder bore is not .478 -12.1mm all the way inside the cylinder there is actually a step where the diameter is small. The cylinder will not even except the 410 cartridge all the way because of this.:slapshoot:

You know, it is funny you say this. I know the cylinder is not strong enough, but I was curious if a .454 Cas would fit in a Taurus Judge. They machined a step in the cylinder that does not allow the cartridge to be inserted all the way but still allows the .410 to clear. Hmmm....
