From what I've been told the .243 is not really a popular rd etc, but I have one and i want to do something to it. It's just boring and there's no cool factor. I'd really like to change the stock if anyone has any ideas for mods I'm open.
Google "Stocky stocks". They have a ton of B&C (and other brands) stock options for short action 700's. Their "showroom" is located in PB but sell nationally as more of an internet based shop.

Imma need your help SSI I no know nada about this! First scoped rifle and I'm lost as a bitch. I've broke it down and all that good stuff an it seems simple enough, but I don't know what stock I want etc.
What sort of look and purpose are you going for? Hunting or tactical? What contour barrel do you have on it? Varmint (bull barrel) or tapered (normal hunting)?

ok maybe I am retarded but what's the difference between short and long action?
Remington makes a short action and a long action 700. Just as it sounds, the bolt and receiver are longer to accomodate longer rounds on a long action. For example, a .308 Win is a short action round whereas a .30-06 is a long action. The .243 is considered a "short action" round. I don't know the actual measurements off hand.

Purpose will be hunting, for tactical I'll buy a 308 later. Barrel is standard! This is pretty much an out of the box gun. Whatever it came with is what's there. i bought it from a friend of mine a few months back, but it just sits there cuz i'm not sure what to do with it.

Ah ok I understand, thanks. Trying to figure it out why AI made stocks and stated some were long and some short. For some reason I was thinking there was a long and short action for the .308 and hence was confused

Well, there's the rub. There are .308 Win long action 700's out there. Some people prefer the long action as well.

Would a .308 long action fit a .30-06? Are they one and the same?
Nope. The chamber is cut differently and the bolt face is different.

So what's the difference with ADL & BDL?
When I asked you if your rifle had a hindged floorplate that released all the rounds in the magwell, that is the primary difference between ADL and BDL. BDL is the one with the hindged floorplate and the one that is more desired.
