This is my Bushmaster BA-50 I set up a few months ago. I topped it with a Bushnell 3200 Elite Tactical 5-15X. I've had excellent luck with that scope, and have found them to be every bit as bright and clear as any of my Leupolds. The rings are by Smith Enterprises and are wire EDM'd out of solid 4140 steel. The base is also from Smith Enterprises. I'm real happy with the rifle thus far, and it performs beautifully.
After I accumulate enough brass I'll start reloading for it. As it sits the whole rig weighs in at about 33 pounds. A fully loaded magazine, (10 rounds), weighs 4 pounds. Recoil isn't bad at all because of the weight, and the excellent muzzle brake. The blast is something else! These rifles are in a class by themselves, and really are fun to shoot.

These are a few size comparison photos I threw together. 50 rounds of .50 BMG, 50 rounds of .308, and 50 of .223. The .50 rounds are in a MTM plastic, 100 round 12 gauge box. I removed the top tray and use it as a loading block, and the bottom tray holds 50 rounds of .50 BMG nicely. Bill T.

It's a gun forum... Of course we like .50cal!!! :)
Though the military needs to just make a low recoil rail gun that throws projectiles as big or bigger than a .50cal and call it a day.

I have a B99
Great gun and I purchased it a few years ago before the Firearms price hike so I got it for a reasonable number, Sub 2500.
I really dont shoot it much though. Ammo prices are a killer even with some of the bargain Summit ammo I have purchased it is still a wallet banger.
I have had some entertaining range days with mine though. I would go to junk dealer and buy old dead lawn mowers and aset them out at 1000 yards and shoot at them. I can say with certainty that a 655 grain will still through and through an aluminum lawn mower engine at 1000. Good fun
Right now Im searching for a 338 lapua rifle or possibly a 416 barrett to satisfy my big bore fancy with a little more accuracy.
.50bmg makes me sticky in the shorts. I want one bad....a Model 82A1 if I hit the lottery or a Model 99 if I can save enough cash.

.50bmg makes me sticky in the shorts.Does that mean you shit yourself when you shoot it? Oh wait that'd be mushy. Wrong end.

Well if I owned one or could afford to I would be in to shooting them. Since you own one you may wish to offer that works wonders as well.:)

I cannot afford 4$/round new & 2.50$/round reloaded. I would spend more time cleaning that weapon each month than using.

I'm finding it's actually cheaper to shoot than many of my Weatherbys. Bill T.

for me it's the cost of getting one in the first place, even at cost they're expensive! at least the M82A1 is. then again the whole sport is expensive. a range trip costs me $50 to $100 after the range fee and ammo depending how much I shoot. having a Barrett would definitely increase the cost of a trip to the range :)

If you want to get into .50 BMG and not have to take out a second mortgage, go with a Armalite AR-50. They are very well made, extremely accurate, and can be had new in the box for under $3,000.00. Bill T.

had one of those in the shop the other day, looked like it's a good rifle.
You may get one for around $3000 but then you have to dump a lot more into the optic to support that round also....wait, I am in South Florida. 100 yards max, Nikon for a buck fitty, I am good to go then. LOL!!!
Nice gun though, I wish I could own one of these.

Come to Sarasota and shoot 1,000 yards. =)

1,000 yards, that would be pretty sick! 3.5 hours away according to google maps, might be worth the trip one day :) gotta get Rich to sight in the Barrett and go on a road trip :D I don't have anything long range like that yet. I don't think the Eotech on my AR15 would cut it at 1,000 yards :D

I drove 2 hours to Ocala for an AR15 day before. It's not bad, just plan it out in advanced. Make it a shoot every round and every gun you have day.
one day I will have the :lino: till then :bolt:

Ocala shoot fun! I drive every so often to see my god daughter and hit the range up there. That free range in the sticks is awesome!

Don't forget that most are not allowing the .50 BMG nor the .416 on their ranges.
Here's "my" out-take...
A)Fun to shoot vs. Expensive to buy & accessorize.
B)Fun to shoot vs. Expensive to shoot, so now I'm forced to learn a new trade of reloading.
C)Fun to shoot vs. No near place to shoot it.
D)Fun to shoot vs. Will not fit in my safe.
My conclusion... I have other, more practical alternatives to having fun while shooting. No .50 BMG for me.:(

Ha ha, I don't own one, maybe one day. Rich who owns GunTech has one, it's pretty sick. They just came out with a new Barrett .50 BMG, looks awesome.
