So, what would one need to do to accomplish this?

you would need one of 2 choices
A registered drop in auto sear - about 9000.00 and a 200.00 tax stamp
or
A registered reciever 10000.00 - 14000.00
if you didnt want to go full auto and just wanted the SBR it would be a 200.00 tax stamp
Just buy the pistol if you want that, then of course the SBR tax stamp for a stock.

Considering those country boys don't want their faces or identifying marks seen I would venture a guess that they added a happy pin and fashioned their own sear without asking permission.
