Everything is being auction off including NFA items etc to pay off creditors. Just thought I would post it up for people in the Lakeland, FL area. Auction takes place April 10th

Yea, there is nothing left there. John (the former owner) ran off with all the goods stuff and is on the run still from last report. But if the auction is next Saturday, maybe I'll attend. Btw... I got my firearm trust completed. Ready to go with NFA items now.

DAMN... the auctioneer is charging 10% buyer fees for cash and 12% for credit cards (Visa/Mastercard only). That is pretty high. Most auto auctions I've attended are only 2% cash/check only.

So if some idiots attend the auction not knowing what the internet price is on some items (like suppressors) the winning bid plus 10% will end up being nearly retail.

Oh well, it'll only cost 5$ in gas to go there and find out.

Certainly will. Just made 1080$ tonight on poker, so I'll bring that with me to the auction... if I don't make a trip to Spike's first.

How do you make over a grand playing poker?

(And I just made another couple hundred Saturday night with some friends in a small 10$ tourney and a 25 cent/50 cent cash game. lol)

Learn how to really play, don't believe "the ABC's of poker", never let someone sucking out on you throw you off your game, and always remember that even you need a little luck on your side.

Here's what I do that keeps me focused on my game.

1. I do not talk. Literally. People immediately assume I'm deaf, and I just play along.
2. Block out everyone. Don't react to things people say unless they ask for your attention. And then just nod, smile, or shrug.
3. Not getting caught up in table talk or talking in general allows you to watch the players more, pick up on tells, identify behaviors, and exploit them.
4. Do not waste time trying to calculate your exact odds percentage to win, it is a waste of mental energy and focus. The pros you see on TV do that just to make themselves look like math geniuses.
5. Again, don't get pissed about someone sucking out on you. This means do not fall in love with your pocket aces or pocket kings... lay those fuckers down to a huge bet on the river.
6. That money saved by laying down high cards you know are losers will let you play "real winners". What I mean is I would rather get middle suited connectors (i.e. 5-4 suited up to 10-9 suited) or pocket 2's up to pocket 9's than get pocket aces. Once that flop hits, you know where you are with those cards. Either you have a good shot to win, already grabbed a huge lead, or you completely missed and know to fold. If you had AA or KK and the flop is 569, you're fucked and just don't want to admit it.
7. Every time someone bitches about you winning, take it as a compliment, because you're doing it right. If you can repeatedly win 40% or more of the hands you play and win 90% of the hands you go to showdown with, then you know you finally found your game and don't need to change anything.
8. "Mixing up your game" means you're trying to much and you'll just slow down your reactions which will give away more information to the other players.
9. Don't feel the need to bet to protect your cards on every step of the hand.

Whether you're winning or not... it isn't the amount you win each time that counts, it is how many times you win that matters. If your average investment in a pot is 30$ but you only win 10% of your showdowns and 5% of the total hands you play, then you're losing money. But if your average investment is 20$ and you are winning 90% of your showdowns and 40% of your total hands, then you are generating money. Any pot won usually averages a pull down winning of 3x the investment. So playing 10 hands at 30$/hand costs you 300$ and at a 10% winning rate you only get back 60$. But if you play 10 hands at 20$/hand you're giving up 200$ and winning 40% for a return of 240$ (20 per hand x 3 time pot size x 4 wins out of 10). This means I made 40$ while the ABC player has lost 240$. Did I really net a profit of only 40$ every 10 hands? No, the "icing" came from me holding the nuts and other players betting into me on the river. When you're the slower player that isn't betting big, the others don't know when you're strong or weak. This means they will try to bluff you or bet second best really hard when they shouldn't. And when that happens I only call if there is someone still behind me (hoping they call too) or I'll just double it to get a little more money.

You'll come across a lot of times when people will push all-in when they have the best hand, but then no one calls. That's a waste. If someone already made a small bet, and there are 3 people behind you with cards, just call it if you have the best. This gives those 3 a reason to call/raise/bluff, when if you had raised they all folded. But if no one is behind, then just double the bet and see if everyone that already called will call again or feed you even more with another raise.

Ugh, I could go on all night with this stuff... so I'll stop now.

I've never played poker or gotten into card games, so I'll just take your word for it.
Bye the way, did you make it to the auction?

I love poker and like to think I am pretty decent at it. I have never wwalked away from a table with less money than I started with :) Just haven't had the time or money lately to play with

Yes, I went to the future and attended the auction. But my time machine broke down on the way back so I won't be back on here until Friday. Btw, there is an auction Friday night for John's (former owner of Anvil Arms) personal collection of arms which were part of the collateral for his failed business venture that bankrupted him (Anvil Manufacturing). Saturdays auction is for property owned by Anvil Arms LLC. Both auctions will have machine guns, factory SBR's, suppressors, and parts. But his private collection includes many rare firearms from the 1800's all the way through modern arms.

Jax, you should write a book on this shit. Poker for dummies.

JaxChris
04-05-2010, 02:52 PM
No, I can't. Because I don't believe in reading a book to play. If people really want to learn and find their own "game" they need to pay up and take their licks at the table until they understand.

Are you off today or just on a lunch break?

I am always off Mondays and Tuesdays. The book wouldn't be for what you believe in. It would be to rip off all the newbs that read it.

The "poker pro's" put out books to try and tell rookies how to play so they can predict and control them at the table. It's kind of like "here's what I used to do before I wised up". No pro is going to tell everyone how they play and then still play the game for a living. So that makes Brunson, Hellmuth, Caro, and the others all frauds.

There is 50 ways to play... but only one that works for you. Find your rhythm and stick with it.

You should write a book on how to write a book.

Now THAT is where the money is. But again, I don't read books. If it's in print, it's outdated.
