So I'm looking to get a 22 rifle for my b-day in June. Really I would love to get a Ruger but don't want to spend the $220 I saw it for. So my few options are Marlin, Mossberg or Savage. Now if any one thinks I can find a Ruger for under 200 before tax from a sporting goods store than I might get it. But I don't want to spend $220 plus tax, 200 plus tax aint bad. I only want it for something fun to shoot at the range. Also do any of the fore mentioned cheaper ones have any optional stocks and larger magazines like the Ruger? Love some advice and web sites I all ready look on buds everyday.

you can find some great pricing on 10/22's you just have to watch for sales.

The by far have the most add on parts its virtually a cottage industry.
Gander's regular price on a stock 10/22 is about 219 so its not unreasonable to see a sale for 179 to 199 just have to keep your eyes open for the flyers

Definitely check out sales ads, they do go on sale from time to time. That's how I got mine.

My 2 cents...

Focus your efforts on a 10/22.. You have a ton of options for it and you can always up-scale it to a hell of a sharpshooter in the future.

Ok I think I've decided to go with the 10/22 but what should I get the wood or synthetic? I'm really torn on it I like em both, plan on getting a diff stock sooner or latter but not to start.

you won't get the synthetic for under $200.

They are both 219 on Gander's web site. Doe the synthetic never go on sale?

I recently got my standard wood 10/22 at Dick's Sporting Goods for $199! I immediately took the stock off and put on a TAPCO Intrafuse stock in black. Looks like a totally different rifle.
Get a 10/22, there's endless things you can change/customize.
