Reminds me, there is a recall issued by Remington to warn all that we are not to use any semi-auto .17HMR and they will reimburse for all remington .17 semi's. Not sure if this is a blanket statement to affect all semi-auto .17's as not being safe. Will research more.

Cool video. Actually, I was not expecting any true damage on the back side of that 55 gallon drum from the .22lr.

My 2 cents.... if worth 2 cents at all...

The .17HMR even though it's a rimfire, it is far from been a cheap plinking platform due to the cost of the ammo. This caliber is a perfect varminter round which it even comes with ballistic tips, though the varminter rifle I use is in .223.

I would stick with the .22LR as a plinker in a basic Ruger or Marlin model. If I would have to choose on paying $200 to $300 more than one of these basic models mentioned, it would not be the Ruger's SR-22 which is an overdressed 10/22. I would have to go with a converted black rifle platform or a SIG522, where you will get a realistic feel & weight of it's original counterpart.
