By far the best non-lethal carry tool in my box is a big fat hickory cane. A mini Louisville Slugger of sorts. You don't have to be an old SOB like me to pull it off. I've practiced differant hits with it and even worked out a "give me your wallet", "OK, OK man, hold this for me, please don't hurt me" routine. That could buy me the time and distraction needed to draw my weapon. You can carry a cane anywhere, plane, courtroom, anywhere.

Get a locking ceramic composite blade hidden inside it and you can get by metal detectors and check points. =)
