ok finished up the build aside from some mild touch up on the finish and some Tango Down rail covers but its close enough to call done.

First we have the install of the optic moutn which on an HK or variant is as easy as hooking the mount claws under the ridge in the reciever so we wont spend much time on that.

Mount part number
MNT-606H

I purchased it on EBAY for 25 bucks but if you google the part number youll find several suppliers.
The mount is very High but I sacrificed for the additional rail

I also mounted the ATN Ultra sight which is very straight forward mount on the rail and snug down.
sight specs are as follows

4 reticle patterns to choose from.
11 position rheostat for reticle pattern brightness adjustment.
Parallax Free.
Instant target acquisition.
Fits standard weaver style base. Ideal for handguns, rifles and shotguns.
Heads up display for extra wide field of view.
Installs quickly using 2 thumbnut tightened clamps for extra stability.
High intensity diode for super bright reticle pattern. Efficient electrical design for long battery life.
Dimensions (mm): 130x45x72
Weight: 0.2kg/0.45lb

These run about 150-170 street price but from what I have seen they look like a fairly low cost reflex and seem sturdy. I will give a range report for it once I test the gun.

Next we have the Laser which is also a easy install onto the second rail on the optic mount.

This laser is another UTG product produced for Airsoft rifles. I can actually say this is a very very nice piece from the initial quality standpoint
part number= SCP-LS168
street price ranges from 30 to 70 dollars.

everything from packiging to extra batteries along with a pressure switch was included.

If this maintains a zero(its fully adjustable) this may be the best deal on the gun.

Next We Have the Rail install

This takes a little bit of initiative.
The rail is designed to fit a larger diameter mounting point and also has to be relieved to fit the barrel stud near the reciever. This can all be done with patiance and a drememl tool.
The rail part number is MNT-HGMP5A

Street Price 59 to 85 dollars.
Very nicely machined part I am pleased with it. A fair amount of modification is required to install it though. Be mindful of this when purchasing. If you dont have the experiance to do this find another part. Once you remove metal you cant put it back
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/chrisbean109/DSCN0533.jpg

First the stock foreend needs to be removed by removing one bolt near the muzzle end of the forearm.

Once removed test fit the part. Nowhere near fitting!
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/chrisbean109/DSCN0534.jpg

I relieved the reciever side of the part dramatically to fit over the barrel mount assembly and also relived some of the area around the front near the front sight post area to allow a snug fit of the part
This takes time and many test fits to ensure a proper fit. This is not a step to be rushed

Here is the part once relieved

At this point the parts fits and was removed to touch up and refinish the areas that I stripped to bare metal.
After that the part was fully installed

Next I mounted the UTG rail gaurds which will eventually be changed for offerings from Tango Down
Lastly I used adhesive backed velcro to mount the laser pressure switch

Heres what she looks like when your shouldered

So there you have it a complete mod of the astetic parts of the GSG-5
I know some of this buiild I was vague about so if anyone chooses to try one for themselves and needs a hand with anything shown or any other mods please PM me or throw up a post.

So after a few hundreds rounds I couldnt be more pleased with the gun. For what it is it feels rock solid. The mods are all working fine. No FTF's of any sort.
Great gun IMO.

Yeah, I must say that little gun was fun to shoot. Once the optics were dialed in and not hitting 12" down it was shooting quite nice.

Oh now that is pimp. What's the total cost of the weapon and the build?

Cris

I think the retail of the gun itself is about $500. Chris mentioned the cost of parts but I forget the total.

Question for you Chris: why remove the UTG rails for the Tango Down.. whats wrong with UTG?

Chris

the rails stays, the tango down is just covers

The UTG rail covers leave a little to be desired in the aestetic department.

These are the Tango down covers

The UTG rail is staying on there, especially after all the work it took to get it fit right
