how many of you keep all spare ar mags fully loaded
I keep mine fully loaded even knowing its not good for the springs. With the new order coming in I will trade them off, probably keeping at least 5 loaded at a time.

cris, i thought the same but after reading a lot..it seems that the springs arnt the issue but the feed lips..everything i have read said loading and unloading is what is bad..if you fully load and leave..you are good for 20+ years..springs will not weaken..again this is what i have read..so i wanted to see what everyone else thinks
I for 1 keep all mags fully loaded
Wow, 20 years +. Guess I am not going to worry anymore.

I keep 1 mag loaded all the others empty.
I dont particularly worry about the feed lip or followers when loading and unloading either.
Mags are designed to have thousands and thousands of rounds put through them so if unloading or loading them by hand worries you, you have the wrong kind of mags.
From an engineering standpoint no coil spring is designed to maintain full yield strength while being compressed for extremely extended periods. The problem actually lies in bending the spring to a shape while compressed that will eventually cause it to conform and lose its strength, may take a long time but it will eventually lose some of its force.
But hey thats JMHO.
The best analogy I can think of for this is a vehicle spring. Being constantly under load will eventually over time cause the spring to lose rebound strength thus the need for supplemental compresssion and rebound control....i.e. shocks

I keep one loaded, and had also worried about the spring as well.
I have 2 ammo cans with 24 USGI 30 round mags fully loaded in each. They are for when the zombies attack..... lol

Well, I dont keep em ALL loaded, 320+ mags is alot to load. BUT, I do keep 15 mags loaded. There are 10 in one safe, 5 on top of another safe, along with a full Beta mag in the top of the Kitchen closet.
I also have 4 bando's of 5.56 on strippers in various locations.
In my patrol car I have 6 loaded mags.
1 in my Jeep.
Also have a suppressed AR in a safe that is loaded at all times.
Paranoid, no. Prepared, why not?
In my youth, I listened to the 'Old guys' and thought they were crazy. Now Im one of them.

Wow, we should have just tried to set up with you for the group buy on the mags, LOL!!!

I keep all my mags fully loaded. Seven Glock mags, including a 30 rounder. I've got two standard AR mags and two hi-cap mags, all fully loaded. I also hear its not good for the springs, but I haven't had any issues yet. What good is having a magazine if its empty? Just like carrying a concealed firearm that is not chambered. Useless!

Well, considering Im averaging about 300+ surplus mags stored, I dont. BUT I do keep anout 16 mags fully loaded and stashed throughout the house. This does not include my "MagBag" which is a SAW gunners A-bag FULL of loaded mags, maybe 30.
And then there is 8 in my patrol car, and maybe 10 more scattered throughout the property in vehicles or outbuildings.
I actually did an inventory, and I think I might be selling some mags.
Crazy, maybe. Prepared, yes. Paranoid, HELL yes.

Pmags are a sure sell these days.

Theres one dude on a Board I frequent that has 100 of them for $3000! if you dont have a calculator or abicus nearby, thats $30 bucks a mag!!! NO WINDOWS EVEN!!!!
So anyway, Thanks!!!
Yeah I have been hearing about the crazy pricing going on for them, as you said Scott, going for $25 and up.

I think I need to purchase more. You guys make me feel bad. I only have thirteen. All of which are fully loaded though.
I am not far ahead of you. Only 15 fully loaded. Waiting for them to come into Guntech. They have 600 on order.

Now I don't feel to bad. I've been looking into the pmags but I'vewatched the prices sky rocket out of control. The price on regular mags have spiked also.
If we get them in at Guntech they should be fairly priced. I will post when they do and when they do you better act fast on them.
