Greetings everyone.
I am looking/interested in firearms training. I purchased a Glock Model 22 .40cal, and will be picking it up next week.
I would be interested in complete training on the Glock. I have fired a few guns when I was younger, but want to go into this as a complete beginner.
Please help!!!
Opinions on the Glock too.......:D I was looking at the XDm...the Glock won!
Thanks, Ken

welcome!
Welcome!
A few of us are NRA Certified Instructors in Home Firearm Safety, Basic Pistol, and Personal Protection in the Home. Also, Chris is a certified Glock armorer.
Congrats on your purchase. It's a nice gun. Full sized and very popular with law enforcement. Good gun for home defense and a nice range gun as well. There's quite a few NRA instructors here that may offer a handgun 101 type course. As far as understanding the gun, your gun dealer should have no problem showing you how to field strip it for cleaning. There are also a few YouTube videos on how to work on your Glock. There might be a certified Glock armorer or two here and maybe one or two more in the near future. So ask away here on this forum if you want.
EDIT: Hmmm, I must have hit reply just before Dave's post.
Yeah...beat you to it Phil. :D
Chris is the only Glock armorer on here that I know of, but a lot of us could easily help you with them.

Thanks guys..
Handgun basics 101 is where I want to start. I pray that I never need to draw my firearm in self defense, but want to be able to if need be.
Silly question...what is an armorer?
SSi, I bought it from Pompano Pawn and gun, great people, but not sure on the field stripping/cleaning part.

In the context of this discussion with Glocks, it is a gunsmith that has specialized training in working with this specific type of weapon. Otherwise, it is a gunsmith that is usually with the police or military.

Heard good things about them as they usually travel the gun show circuit. I'd be surprised if they refuse to show you how to field strip the gun and just tell you to read the manual. If that were to happen, stop by Guntech and I'm sure if it isn't swamped, someone would be happy to show you.

Congradulations on your purchase.
As stated already there are quite a few instructors on board here.
Many Many users have vast experiance with glocks and handguns in general.
You were the lucky purchaser of a very very easy firearm to maintain and live with. I would strongly recommend you contact one of our instructors via pm to arrange some training for you. You could also contact me via pm but my schedule is extremely tight. I would be more than happy to answer any technical questions you may have with your firearm.
Thank you for joining and I hope you feel at home.
If you stop by on an evening at Guntech I would be more than happy to show you how to break that gun down and clean it. I am not a Glock armorer but I am pretty familiar with them. Not much too them, as stated before very good gun choice as far as cleaning and reliability.
One question though, how the hell did you pick the glock over the XDm. The "M" would have one hands down for me. I see that the regular XD's and glocks may be a close run but not when it comes to the "M" series.

Wow!!
You guys are the best!
I may still grab the XDm, but that Glock felt great in my hands. It was a very tough decision, because I have been eyeing the XDm for a while.
I hope to be back in town mid week. I will be in contact, and we'll get this ball rolling.
Thanks again, y'all are the best!

Well, picked up the Glock today.
Read the manual cover to cover...twice, then hooked up with a Marine buddy of mine. Off we went to Pembroke Gun Range. Me with my Glock, him with his Cold Defender (wich is a sweeeeet conceal gun).
The guys at Pembroke were great. Took a few minutes to show me how to field strip the Glock. Couldn't believe how easy it was.
Loading the mags was tough, with the new springs. Once they softened up a bit it was easier. The Glock comes with an "easy loader" thingy. I sort of figured out how to use it. Fingers still hurt!!!!
I love the Glock. I was nervous/scared at first, but felt a lot easier after the first 100 rounds!!!

You will more comfortable with the firearm as you go. Make sure you give her a good cleaning now too, that will help familiarize yourself with the inner workings and field stripping it also. Yes, clean it every time you fire it.
I have not watched this video but I am sure it should cover all you need to clean it.

Oh it is spic and span clean!
Any suggestions on what to use to keep the polymer frame clean.
I usually just scrub and wipe it down with Remoil.
