Pics are soon to come Here is the story:
I got a Remington 870 from a friend of mine tonight we wanted 250.00 for it so here was the deal.
remington 870 magnum express 12 GA
straight black synthetic shoulder stock/ matching foregrip
1 set of ati shoulder stock w/ pistol grip and pistol grip forend
5 shot elastic side saddle
15 rounds of platinum tipped slugs
I dont like the ati stock so i went to put the regular stock back on... i have it on but i seemto be missing the rubber recoil shoulder pad. I guess the one for the ati stock is a different size. If anyone has one..please let me know how much you whould like for it or I will trade.
Pics will be posted one the stock is complete and i am happy with the look

I like my express magnum in the Short configuration. Its the one in the middle. It really works nice with a Hogue overmold 'Youth' stock on it.

I think for most people the 870 is an ideal gun for general purpose and home defense. While different people look for different things in guns, I say this for a few different reasons.
1st - Remington has a long history of making good and affordable products, at least in all the dealings I have had with them the experience has always been positive.
2nd- Value, Academy has 870's right now for 259 so you can get one for less than 300 bucks out the door. I have to go exchange a holster tomorrow so I will double check that price when I get there to make sure I didnt see something different but I am about 90% sure thats what I saw.
3rd and this is the main reason I think they make a perfect shotgun for a person who wants home defense but to also be able to enjoy their shotgun for other purposes such as targets or hunting. If you buy an 870 for another 120 dollars you can get a short 16 or 18 ( I don't remember the length) inch barrel to use for home defense. So in a matter of a couple of minutes you can change you the barrels and go from a home gun to a trap range gun, a day in a field hunting dove, or a day over the water cutting down ducks and teal. When you get back, a cleaning and a couple of minuts more and its back to home defense.
I know there are guns just for home defense that fit that purpose better, and there are better guns to use in the field in many cases, but cost vs purpose vs diversity I think it makes the 870 a good choice for many people.
