I'm likely going with a custom 10/22. I fell in love with one I saw on youtube, which is what led me here...

Them prairie dogs are in for a world of hurt!

(BTW, other than spending the last few hours reading all I could about the 10/22, I know nothing about them. ANY advice, be it constructive or not, is good advice)

Cris
01-22-2009, 10:07 PM
There are some listings of custom 22's on here. How far you want to take it is on your shoulders.

Hi, my name is secpro or something another, I'm an :alcoholic::carbomb:, I hate people(mainly idiots, wannbes, and thugs), and I love guns.
Other than I don't think anything else is relevant unless I like you in some way shape or form.
Oh and if you don't like that well....:fu:

edit: Oh and I'm an asshole two.:D

Im Dan. I like cars, bikes, making stuff out of metal, fishing, and pistols and rifles. I have beer on tap at home as I like beer too. My wife thinks I am a jerk most of the time, which is probably the case. I am pretty quiet and keep to myself until you get to know me then I am a jerk. I am always thinking of ways to make things mechanically better. I am an engineer trapped in a biologists mind.

I'm new.....

I saw the TacticalAdv video on Youtube for a 10/22 build and I just
came to the site to see what's up......didn't expect a forum.

Whazzup. From Chi-town.
Longtime gun owner, multiples. Not going into details.
Searching for a Ruger 10/22 receiver so I can do a custom build without
wasting the money on a full blown Ruger 10/22 and tossing parts.

Ex-Navy Intel (Active) and Seabee (Reserves).
Presently going back in as an Intel officer now that my degree is completed.

Question.

I'm noticing most of you guys are in the Florida region.
Is this a Florida board ?? or is that just coincidence since Florida
has the best Gun Laws in the Nation besides Texas ?? lol

BTW - I'm looking at getting a 10/22 receiver new for $75 by the end of the week
I just have to verify what ELSE I need to buy......have to call.

The founders were in Florida and now are in TX and NC. A few members either have connections to a motorcycle board with a lot of FL members. We'd like to say that we are not a FL centric board at all, but currently that's where most of the members are.

I think VT has the friendliest gun laws; however, if you go by the Brady gun grabbers, they rate KY, LA, and OK as tied for the "worst" (or best in our case).

http://www.bradycampaign.org/xshare/pdf/scorecard/2008/2008_scorecard_rankings.pdf

$75 for a receiver..... That's pretty good as long as it comes complete with the bolt and trigger guard. You certainly can buy everything to complete a stripped receiver, but you start negating the cost savings quickly with little things that you don't need upgraded aftermarket parts for. In the end, it still is a top notch plinker even with match .22LR ammo. Run your parts list here and you can get some real life experience with most of the stuff out there. My 10/22 went through 4 different makeovers in the past 20 years. I went with a heavy bull barrel about 15 years ago before it became really popular in this area. A lot of the modifications back then were basic, unlike the serious stuff you can get today. I'm building a 2nd one now as gift to my wife's cousin and taking the opportunity to update the one that I have with a Tactical Solutions threaded barrel.

Yes most of the members here are in Fl currently. We have a few more spread around in Tenn, Cali, Kentucky and so on. We are looking to grow as much as we can, trying to spread the word. I don't want to be a Florida only forum. There are many gun enthusiasts out there and we are trying to nab some of the good ones.

Yup it's an open carry state I believe with no licenses required even if I'm correct. Went to college up there.

Vermont has always been that way. With as little of a population they have, they don't have many scumbags going to live there.

I LOVE Vermont. Plus some of the best skiing in the north east is there. (Skiing for you Floridians is strapping two planks of wood to your feet and sliding down a mountain covered in shaved ice, aka snow) Vermont is very laid back country. Its like the Alabama of the north.
