So begins another AR-15 build. This one will be the tactical build though. After polishing the trigger parts I decided to throw in a Magpul enhanced trigger guard. I am still deciding on a few other parts like the stock, sights, rails and so on. More to come as the project goes on.

After I was getting ready to leave last night I found out an AR upper came in. So I decided to stay a little longer and work on the build, just so it started to look more like a real gun. Went with a 16" M4 style upper. Added on the ambidextrous sling adapter, 7" Troy free floating rail, Yankee Hill rear flip and Front flip with built in gas block and A Troy Medieval Muzzle Brake. Had to get a standard collapsible stock on there so I could work on the rest of the build. I am waiting on the Magpul CTR stocks to come in.

I still have some more to do to this one. I am looking into foregrips right now with the possibility of a light and an Aimpoint ML2 optic.

very nice, Troy parts will hurt your feelings when you get to the register but they sure are nice

Adam

Sweet! That Troy brake is wicked looking. :)

Cris
02-15-2009, 11:16 AM
Yeah, I liked the brake as soon as I saw it. Plus you don't see too many people getting them. If you are going to put one on make sure you get a new crush washer. With an old one you will never get it to line up properly.

Very nice. Who made the upper?

Cris

Rocl River of course. There were some there at the store for a while from what I was told. They were with the five seven uppers.

i have one .223 and one 9mm colt ar... i would like more but i never shoot my .223.... pistol caliber is so much easier to shoot and much cheaper... Continuing with mt .22 movement i have thought about a dedicated .22 AR build

Cris, guess what we unpacked tonight?!!! 'cept it's for a milspec tube, but we can change yours out as we got them in stock as well.

Cris
02-18-2009, 07:59 AM
No milspec, I am waiting on the commercial versions. No sense in changing it out two more times. She is safe right now.

ss1
02-18-2009, 08:02 AM
IMHO, milspec is more desirable for future possible options. But it's your #2. ;)

BTW, I'll be in Miami all day today. Let Rich and Nicky know not to expect me today.

Most cutting edge buttstocks for the AR carbine platform are designed to fit the milspec carbine buffer tube first due to the fact that all military issue AR's are all milspec. Should there ever be a commercial ban on "assault weapons", you will quickly find all stuff conforming to milspec if you could ever get you hands on it in the future.

I'm telling you! I think it's just the perks of working at a gunshot really. I do beleive he doesn't accept cash only works for guns, parts, etc. That's why I told him before I could use a forth job. I could be mistaken, but I does believe that is his MO.:(

As long as the stock comes with the other buffer I may have to go that route. I will speak to Rich tonight since I will probably go into do class tonight.

There are perks of working in the shop but no matter which way you look at it I am dishing out quite a bit of dough. Need more classes, need more classes...gotta make up for this one, cause this one is taking a big bite out of my toy fundage.

I am already planning on going in the next few weekends. Lino popped in yesterday saying they were going Saturday but I have to work Saturday morn. Maybe next week as I still have to dial in the other AR-15 also since I put that new scope on.

No Taurus logo, but your second statement is headed in the right direction. Just not an AR-15.
