Sorry for the short notice guys. Bushido Tactical is a company that teaches both responsible citizens and police/military survival, combat and defensive courses. Wade Rorich is coming down for his Handgun Condition Readiness Level 1 course on March 13 and 14 here in South Florida. While his classes are physically challenging, it is structured to handle the pace of virtually any level and skill of student with the upmost focus on safety. The things that you learn are down right practical and gives you the basics for disciplined effectiveness in defensive combat training. I encourage any of you to consider an investment in this type of training as a complement to your ultimate defensive weapon - the handgun.

The class will be at Pop's Range for a full Friday and a good part of Saturday. Friday training will include night drills, which is an absolute must and one that very few practice for. Check out his site, and if you have any questions, email Wade or pm me for any details.

Yeah, I would like to take it also. Bad time for me though, especially with taking a day off this week for the Glock course. I have heard you speak of this course before Phil which is why I want to take it also.

I'd love to take this course, but bad timing indeed since I'm working on some moving things.

I have taken the carbine classes twice. Unfortunately, the range, Pop's Dean, can only accomodate a Fri/Sat class schedule, so I know taking the time off will be difficult for most. The other issue of late is getting enough ammo for the class. His classes are inexpensive compared to some of the more established schools, as he is trying to get traction with his now 2 year old company, however, the quality of class is handsdown 1st class. I've actually got a wedding to go to that Friday, so I'll be missing the afternoon and evening drills which, if it's anything like the carbine classes, is probably going to be packed with a ton of drills that both the seasoned competitor or the novice will find very useful. :( The second day adds more and wraps it up in a very competitive and engaging live fire excercise.

Phil, thank you for the kind words. Our Carbine L1 class is the most popular class at the moment. Although it is very physically and mentally challenging, all skill levels learn a lot and have a great time there.

All of our classes are structured a little different in content based on the weapon system being taught although some of the techniques may overlap a little due to the basic fundamentals and techniques being taught for defensive shooting and gun fighting.

I appreciate everyone showing an interested in attending a class in the future, I hope to meet and train with all of you sometime.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need help with anything.

All the best

Sounds like you'd be a pleasure to train with! I for one definately do not have an extra $350 laying around, but once I do and can get some time off I'd be looking ot take some of your courses.
Do you have a schedule you can give us?

I try and update the course schedule when new classes get booked. I have a few classes lined up now but am just waiting to confirm the range bookings.

Keep a look out, it changes often.

He has a schedule on his site.

After speaking to Sharon at Pop's Dean during the last group shoot I went to there, she doesn't want to schedule classes during the summer due to heat and hydration problems. I don't really blame her.

What should a potential client look to run through on ammo needs for your courses?

the site says 1000-1200 rounds for primary weapon but you need a backup incase the primary has issues while trianing

Cris

Looks like it may be time to invest in a 22 caliber. LOL!! I'm just kidding. I think I remember Phil telling me about the same number.

i probably could have swung the march 13 handgun class but on top of 350.00 was 200.00 in ammo ( i am currently stocking 300 rnds of .45 and 200 rnds of .40) for my carry guns

I have about 1300 rounds of 9mm, sitting around right now. Unfortunately to take a Friday off from work after taking a day off this week and the $350 fee is going to put me behind. I still have to pay off the rest of the AR-15 build.

Guys,

Although the Carbine course calls for 1000 - 1200rds of 5.56 and 300rds of handgun, realistically you will only use about 850rds of 5.56 and maybe 150rds of handgun.

I always ask you to bring more so that students can't complain of ever running out but I have never had anyone complain of having ammo left over.

You can easily get away with 850rds of 5.56 and 150 - 180rds of handgun.

It should save you a little for the carbine class.

For the Handgun class next week, you should run close to 900rds of handgun ammo for the class.

Thanks for the clarification Wade. It's good for people to see it in writing here on the forum so they know what to prepare for before signing up and coming in blind.

I've been pondering whether to do an After Action Report (AAR) on the class. Honestly, I don't think I'll do it justice since I had to miss almost 9 hours of the class due to a family member's wedding. What I can tell you is that we had a fairly full class with 12 students ranging from a beginner to seasoned IPSC shooters. Most of the group used 9mm handguns with a .40 and a .45 as the exceptions. As much as I love my 1911's, I realize that there are some limitations in a live range class situation where you need to be carrying at least 8 mags or higher capacity mags before you have a chance to get back to reload unlike an IPSC competition. Wade made every effort to be sensitive to that shooter's issue and accomodate while still keeping the momentum going. Some other "hardware" sightings: 2 S&W M&P's, 1 XDM9, 1 XD9 compact, and 1 HK USP, my Sig 226, and the rest were Glocks. The only malfunctions witnessed were with Glock mag tube extensions (aftermarket ones) that had popped off the mag tubes when dropped from the gun full of ammo when doing drills simulating the clearing of your gun during a double feed or "stovepipe". The participant with the XDM noted that since his gun was brand new, he could not press the mag release without using an unusual amount of force, making some drills difficult.

The class was held at Pop Dean's Gun and Hunt Club in Southwest Ranches. The owner, Sharon, has done quite a bit to improve the range with almost doubling the height of the berm and leveling some portions of the grounds. It is to my knowledge, the only place now in South Florida that will allow you to rapid fire and use reactive targets. If you haven't had a chance to get an invite to a shoot there, you can call Sharon to see about going out there on a general members day and give it a "shot". http://www.popsrange.com/

Since I missed so much of Day 1, I will just close off by saying that what I did learn was invaluable and that I really need to spend more time becoming more of a bi-lateral shooter with my pistol. Day 2 really opened my eyes to the old mantra "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast" as really about cadence, sharply improving your accuracy and making adjustments for distance all while improving your overall times to react to the threat or multiple threats. It was a fun class and I encourage everyone to always seek ways to improve your core skills by taking training classes from any of the accomplished schools that offer these training classes for civilians and LE such as Bushido Tactical.

My talks with you in the past before Phil are what made me want to sign up with Wade. I don't think I will be able to with the hectic schedule I have right now. Prior to the move and all, I will be looking to pinch my dinero for a little while.
