If the bullet went through the vest I think he would have locked himself for a Darwin award.

that vest did its job... all a vest is good for is to keep you from dying.... not from wishing you were dead from the pain

That looked like just a 9mm round. I could imagine a 45 having the extra energy needed to pass the rest of the way through the vest.

It could be a IIA vest though and a IIIA may hold up better. I'd have to research that video.

Any clue of what's the thinnest concealable armor that would hold up to a 45 caliber pistol round?

joe, civilian armor is perfectly legal as long as 2 rules are followed

1) can not be a conviceted felon (ie, should not have a gun as well)
2) can not use the armor i the comission of a crime...there is an added charge

I use to have one but got rid of it..ballistic panel shelf life is 5 years

My dad always told me never to point a gun at anyone, even if it's not loaded!

Apparently these guys weren't raised the same way. I was brought up to know guns iz sirius bizness.

Most newer fibers used in vests are being guaranteed for 10 years now.

The felon restrict for body armor is a state-to-state thing as there is no federal law making the sale of armor to anyone illegal.

ss1, I've seen what can be done with Dragon Skin but the companies website is gone and they are banned by the NIJ from any department purchasing it. I believe they may be out of business now. Know of any place that has it for sale? I heard it costs 5k$ though while most modern concealable armor costs about 500$.

I see technology has advanced.. mine was a point blank IIIA..panels were labeled 5 years... if they are good for 10 now.. i would reconsider getting one
