Not sure if anyone reads books on the forum but I just started reading one that I can't put down. Read a lot growing up and have just recently started up again over the last couple years. I was always into war or courtroom novels but normally not based on truth.

Anyway I just started to read Lone Survivor and haven't been able to put it down. Alsready half way through it. It's based on Operation Red Wing that took place in Afghanistan in 2005 in an attempt to capture or kill one of the heads of the Taliban that was setting lots of IED etc. 4 SEALs went out and got ambushed as a result of letting 3 goatherders go that stumbled on their position. They then alerted the Taliban and they were surrounded within the hour. 3 of the 4 SEALs were killed and then and additional 8 SEALs and 8 Special Forces were killed when the helicopter they were in trying to get to the SEALs was blown up by an RPG. This book is the account of the lone SEAL that survived and was found 6 days later with a gunshot to his leg, fractured ribs and 3 shattered vertebrea.

Unbelievable book so far and figured I would share it.

The book is outstanding and the guys from Operation Red Wing were great SEALs. All the members of that SEAL team will be missed dearly and it's glad to know that there memories still live on.

Yes you are right about that. I have the utmost respect for those guys and anyone in the military for that matter. There is no one above them.

They are making a movie I believe that is coming out this year from what I heard. I reall really hope that the movie stays true to what happened and doesn't change anything to try to make it different to appeal to the masses or anything.
