I went to WPB today to that wreck of a gun show to look around. I have been hunting for a smoking deal on either a CZ-52, CZ-82, or a TT33. While I found one CZ-52 and a fleet of 82s, I could not find one that I could get for my price. So as I was walking around I also began thinking about adding to the Mosin stable with perhaps an M44 carbine. So I looked and found. The price was ok, not a steal but ok. I head spaced it and it was good to go. So I just got done stripping it down and cleaning it. I will post some pics when I get it back together. I cant wait to take it to the range. I have heard the M44 are ferocious and belch a nasty fireball out the muzzle. For the cool factor, I am digging it.

Okay,
Here are some pics of the 91/30 and the new M44. I think I am eventually going to strip the wood on both rifles, sand it down, and refinish it. They look field tough now, which isnt a bad look, but I want them to look nice.

I started to strip down my mosin, the cosmoline is still sweating out. I am going to try some heat lamps to get it to sweat out. If that works it will finally be able to be refinished.

I dunked all the lumber in a bath tub of warm water and scrubbed it with a scouring pad and dish detergent. That seemed to get rid of most of it.

WOW, you are not kidding. I spent like 6 hours today stripping and refinishing the M44. I found that the stock had a little crack in it so I figured I couldnt hurt it any more then it already is. I will post pics of the finished refinish as soon as everything dries.

I think the 91/30 will get it next, provided the M44 comes out good.

Now what else can I get...LOL

My name is Dan and I have a problem....

How about a Nagant revolver to go with that Mosin Nagant and M44? I found a collection of 7.62x25 revolver ammo available pretty cheap. =)

AIM has the Nagant revolvers so cheap, I have been considering one. It is just that the 7.62 Nagant ammo is very pricey. I have found 7.62x25 in bulk for cheap but I am not sure if the Nagant revolver can fire that ammo.

Okay,
I got the bug to refinish the M44. I stripped her down and sanded all the lumber. I then stained it with a red mahogany Minwax stain and then cleared it with Minwax semigloss poly. I didnt get too crazy and re-blue the whole rifle. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. Here are some pics.

Liking the finish, can't wait to finish mine up. But out of boredom I'm going to refinish everything. But at least I have a preview of what to expect, nice job.

Thanks guys. I am pretty happy with it. I found a good price on a hex receiver 91/30 I am thinking about picking up. Hmmmm. Think the wife will kill me but I would have 3 Mosin's so she would have to work at it...LOL
