The Glock 30. Who has experience concealing the Glock 30. I am very interested in the idea of a 10 round subcompact in .45. Some say it's to bulky. Some say it's just fine. The idea is concealing it in Floridian attire.
Please keep opinions strictly on topic of the Glock 30. No I do not want the Glock 36. :)
Secpro has this gun, he loves it. I would choose this over the 27 anyday.

I sure does! G30 is the shyt and I hate Glocks! Concealed in a Crossbreed it's the best thing ever. When I'm not working and doing nothing of importants you can normally find me in a white tee shirt in a pair of jeans or shorts and it conceals perfectly. You guys are actually in luck cuz today being Friday I'll take some pics and post them for your viewing pleasure.
No mug shots though, I don't need the horror at the end of the week.
I have a G30SF that I conceal in a crossbreed holster. It is very comfortable and barely noticeable. My only issue is the weight of the G30. It is a heavy pistol when you have a full mag in it. I feel like it is constantly pulling down my pants. I am going to try to get a tactical belt and see if that cures the problem. Aside from the weight, I LOVE my G30.

Yes and I cinch it tight but it still pulls them down slightly. Like I said, I am going to try a tactical belt, perhaps a little wider, and see if that helps. Its not terrible but I do notice it.
Normally a wider belt does help. Those little shoe string belts aren't worth shit any time, any place.

I will ssay that the 30 is a bit heavy once locked and cocked, but it's a .45 what'd you expect.

I agree 100%. Honestly the little tugging at my pants is worth having all that firepower on board. I can not think of another pistol I would carry for self defense. I wanted to let Satan_3pc know the not so good as well as the good.

Yay, finally good opinions on the gun I'm oh so interested in!
I already have a plan for the pants and belt. I have these bad ass tactical pants made by the military company Propper. They come with a wide nylon tactical belt and they even have this little pocket on the left thigh that just so happens to be shaped like a magazine.
I also had an idea for military cargo pockets that I have in the works. I want to try and cut the material out behind the cargo pocket, and see how functional it would be to have like a Lara Croft style thigh holster, but the gun with then sit comfortable in the puffyness of the cargo pocket. Under stand what I'm saying? So it's actually strapped to your bare leg, but accessible through a big square cut out, that would most likely be restitched around the edges for replaced durability, just inside the easy access cargo pocket.

So, anyways, final analysis.... The glock 30 can be comfortably concealed in a crossbreed with jeans and t-shirt, and probably a tactical belt for extra strength and comfort?

Hurray. This is what I've been wanting to hear. I heard a lot of people saying how bulky it is, but I am 6'0 184lb and I like the idea of having a little .45 concealed carry.
You will be fine with that Matt.

Mythbusters is having an episode this week just for firearms (think wednesday) where one thing they are going to try is to bend a bullet's trajectory lol...sorry a little off topic but just thought I would throw it in after that pic

LOL. I think this thread was treading on the off topic fringes already before my gratuitous Angelina pic. They proved that a curve ball doesn't really curve. I think what ever vectors you can impart while the bullet is traveling down the length of the barrel will be insignificant once it leaves the muzzle. If you look at skeet shooting, you aren't going to curve the shot pattern while you are leading the clays.

There are only 3 factors that impact a bullets trajectory - velocity (forward movement), drag (air resistance and wind sheer), and gravity.
When a bullet fires it is immediately losing velocity as it fights drag from up, down, side to side, and in front. It is also immediately falling to the ground as gravity is constant. People think a bullet fights gravity until it starts dropping but that is incorrect. The bullet falls down at a rate of time. How far it travels forward in the time it takes for it to hit the ground is a separate matter between velocity and drag as mentioned above.
Here's an example. If Bullet A falls at a rate of 5 ft/sec and has a velocity of 1000 ft/sec then Bullet A fired directly forward from a muzzle height of 6 ft would travel 1200 ft before hitting the dirt after only 1.2 secs in the air. The drag resistance it what causes the bullet to stop moving forward as it is falling downward.
Now if you reloaded that same bullet into a casing that used a lighter powder that only created a velocity of 600 ft/sec (like a very quiet sub-sonic load), and fired from the same height, it would only travel 720 ft and still hit the ground after 1.2 secs in the air.
The only thing that would cause a bullet to "curve" is the coriolis effect when firing a high powered round in a primarily north-south orientation at ranges of at least 2000 ft. Without any wind sheer the coriolis effect would cause about 1-2 inches of lateral deflection for every 2000 ft the bullet is in flight. So even at 1000 ft when firing due north, while sitting on the equator, the effect on where you impact the target is at worst an inch.
The more likely culprit to high deflection on a long range target is wind sheer (a component of drag) which can cause lateral and longitudinal shifts on the bullet depending on how long it is in flight and the force of the wind sheer. Explaining the formula to this is far more involved and would make this post too long.
In the end, anything shot within short to medium range of the weapons intended use will curve the trajectory of the bullet fired no matter what forces the shooter puts on it.
If you think that swinging your arm and twisting your wrist as hard as you can while firing a weapon is going to give your bullet magical powers and do anything more than get your own foot shot off then I have bad news for you... you failed the gay test!
It is imagination and entertainment. Remember that anything that is possible can be proven, predicted, and explained in the language of mathematics. =)

Gotcha! It is highly recommended that you check that bad boy. Last you want is to go to fire it and have a malfunction. Depending on the situation it can be fatal.
I'll try and take some pics today after work and get them up.
I've alrady replaced the grip with a Hogue that I had in my box and I put a 3 point combat sling on that I had floating around as well.
Sweet, I knew it looked like the Hogue would be a sure fit on there, now I know.
You know, getting a Rem 700 is going to require nice glass, base, and rings. Figure to at least double if not triple the price of the rifle when you are done.

It doesn't look very comfortable in the pics, how's it actually feel?
Thumper, that is actually the most comfortable IWB holster there is. That large backer is what prevents any part of the firearm from touching and distributing the weight across the backer. When I wear mine it is anywhere up to 16 hours a day long. How many IWB holsters do you know you can do that with?
I wear my crossbreed all the time too. Very comfortable. Some times I forget its even there. 3 people have tried my crossbreed and all 3 have gone out and bought crossbreed holsters for their pistols.

That shyt is pretty comfortable! Me being a big guy I was a little skeptical because normally the holsters would dig into my side, but with the big backer it doesn't offer up any bother. The back of it is soft as hell so if you wear it without an undershirt or anything there is no irritation or anything. There have been many time I've actually forgot it was there. I wear mine with the hooks in the last hole which would be I guess the tuck position and it sits well and is still easily accesible when driving.
Secpro
06-12-2009, 07:04 AM
To be as skeptical as I was I recommend this thing to everybody. Everyone must own a Crossbreed for there guns! Cris can tell ya I wasn't sold for a while until the day I actually bought one.
I've even taken a nap on the couch with my crossbreed on, it's that comfortable. Like any concealed carry holster, you have trade offs, as the more concealed it is, the greater likihood it would make accessing the firearm harder. Since the hooks are adjustable, you can ride the holster high with greater accessibility but a little less comfort and concealiblity. For Bushido's concealed carry class, we had to draw so many times that I adjusted it to ride as high as possible. I've since adjusted it back to a more concealed position. It's nice to have that option IMHO.
