I am holding off to see if I can find the best price. So far the best is just below the $200 mark. I found a good instructional video to go along with this new addiction also.

You want to borrow one? As long as you don't lose it.

LOL, I wouldn't even underwrite that risk. Seriously, I gotta take a look at what's availabe at the shop. I need a little variety anyway.

The only thing I may consider getting is one of those Boker Kalishnakov's, plus they are cheap. Adam also has the 3 knife deal, so when you lose one, its no biggy.

Cool! I didn't know they mado one of those. I learned the hard way! After you get nicked the first 2 times you remember what not to do real quick.

Cris

Yeah I got hit twice with the blade once in each hand. You do learn fast that way though. I am working on being ambidextrous with them.

That would be real nice! I'm not sure I can do that crap anymore. One day when I'm around I'll have to get with ya so we can chill. See how bad I cut myself too.

New knife received yesterday. Loving it too, the titanium is so much lighter than the other knives. A few pics including the other knives. First is the Benchmade, the others include Bradley Cutlery (great knife for the price, real smooth action) and Brown Bear (great training knives if you care to dull down the blades).

Why? And why all at once? I mean I have a lot of knives, but they were collected over time.

This is just ridiculous lol

Is the benchmade a double edged blade?

I got the 3 a few weeks ago. The benchmade I got yesterday. So they were not all at once. I wanted different variations for training because they are not all alike. The first 3 cost me just about the same as the Benchmade.

No, its a single edged blade. I will not own one of these is a double edge blade. Way to dangerous to have those.

One more on the way. I found the fixed blade partner of the Hawk Bill Tanto folder I got the other day.

The Bradley appears to have the best blade contour for slice and stab of the group. The Benchmade looks like it was just made for jabbing. The inward slope toward the base of the blade, on the Bradley, gives a better angle of attack when swinging.

And larger Brown Bear reminds me of a box cutter.

Cris
07-08-2009, 09:22 AM
Well the Tanto is actually the best for stabbing since the Tanto design is made for stronger points. I would never use these tactically. The Bradley is very nice but still on the heavy side for a Bali-Song style knife. The Benchmade truly is the shit for being titanium it is so lightweight.

I like my SOG tanto so much! Can you recommend me another auto knife? I like the microtechs but their price tags will never allow me to buy it.

400$ for a fucking knife? Does it give the world's greatest handjob when you carry it in your pocket or something?

spikes40
07-08-2009, 07:06 PM
not that it makes 400.00 in any way justified but there are only 1000 made in the world and each is individually numbered

Cris
07-08-2009, 09:48 PM
I normally don't like the double action auto's because they feel cheesy and don't fit your hand properly. Richard is ordering a Benchmade HK one, I am curious to see it but I am sure it will still feel cheesy. Which reminds me I ordered another Benchmade also from that same catalog he is ordering that one from. I know the retail on that double action auto was around $450. If he gets them I want to say it would be in that same $300 range. Maybe check that one out when it comes in Joe.

I'm really having a hard time coming up with a reason why a double action auto would be tactically advantageous. Seems it would certainly be prone to mechanical failure in the hands of say.... ME!

Cris
07-09-2009, 10:49 AM
I second that Phil. Well its seems you can break any knife these days. You may want to just get a fixed blade.
