you should organize a pig hunt where you can use it to take down a hog..

there are ranches you go to where you rent the cur dogs and the dogs corner a live hog out in the brush.. and you go in for the kill with a knife... you can also shoot them if you wish..

Cris

On that note let me order some new knives. I will make make kill blow after Lino jumps on it for me.

Much cheaper to hunt. Otherwise you are paying someone like Lino to do it for you.

thats funny cause I dont like to shoot birds... but anything else is cool..

I rescued two birds that fell out of a nest yesterday with the bad storms.. one died and I tossed in the Miami River.. the other made it..

I will kill something if Im going to eat it or give it away as food.. just cant kill birds.. when i was little I tossed a rock at a bird and killed it.. that kinda stuck in my head.

I would probably have a tough time killing something like a hog if it were my pet. In Cuba when I was 3 I had a HUGE hog that was my pet.. as you can imagine... we had to end up slaughtering it for food. I remember the name of the guy who killed it to this day.

I consider myself a very humane person as I have contributed quite a bit of money over the years to the humane society and have adopted stray kittens and currently a shelter dog. Hunting on the other hand gets my adrenaline going and I have no problem hunting and field dressing most game animals. I say most, because I'm not sure I would want to do a legal safari hunt in Africa or a canned hunt on one of these private hunt farms. I also am not a big fan of bow hunting. While it may raise the challenge bar, it requires that the animal hemmorage or bleed out.

Lino's story sort of reminds me of when I had gone small game hunting and we were going for rabbit that day. I had shot at one with a .22 and it appeared to have been a clean shot but as I reached to pick it up, it started kicking, yet it couldn't get up to run away. I took my 3 D cell maglight and broke it's neck but it took like 3 excrutiating tries as it kept trying to kick away. When I skinned it, I realized I had grazed it's neck probably enough to more than just stun it with the .22. I sort of felt bad and haven't hunted rabbit since.

dont get me wrong, i have nothing against hunting or hunters as long as the kill will be used..not just to waste an animal

now you want to talk abot raising the bar... if we could train the animals to carry and shoot back...now we got a sport =)

Cris

lol...yh one thing I could not do is something that I heard is done from a buddy of mine. Apparently it is popular somewhere here in FL. They put you in a a lift that gets you a few feet off the ground and then they release hogs into the open and you can pick off which ever ones you want. To me that is not hunting and not exactly fair game and just could never do it. I think the thrill of hunting is from the actual stalking of your prey

Cris

Yes it is, sometimes you get a kill, sometimes you don't.

I have no problems with hunting but do not personally do it. I like animals more then most people so I choose not to kill them. If it came to it and I needed to hunt for food I would, but for now Publix works just fine.

on those hunts you use the buggy for tracking... you get off and stalk your prey and take the shot from the open field... when you graze the animal and it takes off running you go back in the buggy and pursue it..

I have buddies that go deer hunting with corn feeders.. that is pretty lame.. you feed the deer for a while until they are almost like a pet, then you shoot them..

I have other buddies that go to Africa and hunt on special ranches.. they have a guide that takes them to the animal and from there its on the hunter..

I like to underwater hunt with my speargun... or collect lobsters...

I'll probably go hunting sometime in the near future but need more practice shooting first. Plus the largest caliber I got is my AR with the .223/5.56. Which brings me to this as I know there is a lot of debate going around about hunting cartridges. What is the largest game that you would feel comfortable taking with a .223?

I'm fairly confident that I can shoot a bad guy or "zombie" threatening my life. But, I hope I live a long and fulfilled life without ever having to. On the other hand, I would enjoy a week of hunting or fishing every hunting season for the rest of my life. I guess I'm old skool...

wait wait...zombie hunting is a whole nother story

But you can't eat zombie, but you can sure eat Bambi, Thumper, Yogi, Tick-Tock, Piglet, and Eeyore. =)

If you don't have atleast a small amount of the MGA (morally gray area) in you then you may hesitate one day when you need to draw and defend yourself and others. You should always train to increase your confidence and always know that killing does have its place in this world - there is no avoiding it.

Utopia won't happen in our life times my friend. =(

Very happy with this choice..the sheath is badass as well

here are the pics i managed to put together...the CRKT Ultima 5 seems to have perfect balance and a great feel with the sculpted contour handle. There is a close up of the pry that is built into the handle so no need to use the blade..seems like it would make a nasty weapon as well and i would imagine can also be used as a window punch..but i could be wrong. The interior of the sheath (for blade) is lined with a kydex plastic so it is a sturdy solid construction. Comes with nylon legstrap with QD buckle
